Radiator 131?
86 f350 460 needs a radiator. The current radiator is a leaking plastic/ aluminum modine. I want to replace it with a copper brass 4 row #131 hd cooling. All but 1 place list this as only for 351. Is there a difference? Most 460 radiator #s are 1451. Why cant i find a brass/copper hd cooling for 460? Has anyone used a #131 for a 460? If i cant i will probably go all aluminum a few friends used champions with good results. The modine didn't cool very well even in its prime.

I've only scratched the surface. Maybe a better question would be "Where can I find a brass/copper hd cooling for 460?" If so, try these guys: https://www.radiatorexpress.com/part...tepCompleted=5 Looks like SKU #39241 at the bottom of that page is exactly what you want. They also offer all-aluminum versions if you'd prefer. I went with an all-aluminum version (SKU #220452) for my '84 351W. I am very pleased with the new radiator. You can see details in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...lant-leak.html |
Thanks it's probably brain damage, naturally occurring though, i dont live near power lines. I really have looked alot, missed that one though. I see alot of back and forth over the aluminum vs copper/brass.

How long did the plastic one last? I have been having pretty good service from them, and that is all you can buy for some of my vehicles.

The current plastic rad is 3 years old. The plastic one before that cooled better but leaked from the same spot, middle of the plastic tank, not on a seam or edge, right in the middle.

You have the correct pre-bent hoses? Those universal flex hoses put a lot of strain on the radiator connections.
I don't know where you bought it, but you could try another. Most of them have a lifetime warranty on their radiators. |
