Overdrives

I'm looking for input. Is anyone running a Gearvendors everdrive behind a C-6 in a shortbed 4x4? I'm concerned about the steep drive shaft angle and it's surviveability. I'm running a stock suspension on my '77. Any input would be helpfful.

You could maybe get a custom rear driveshaft made with the ball and trunnion (Rezeppa) type joint like FWD applications use. They will transfer power to almost 45 degrees and the old cross type ujoints can only efficiently transfer through about a 15 degree angle.

Could always swap to a T-18 or NP435 and gain a crawler gear, plus have the benefit of a much shorter but still robust transmission.

Not looking for a crawler gear, looking for better cruising rpm's. 3000 rpms at 65 mph is just crazy with a 400 c.i. engine.

Fair enough.

If you're pulling 3000rpm at 65mph then why not just change to higher diff gears? 3.54 ratio would see about 2500rpm and higher than that would be better still.

I'm going to 3.54's from 4.56's, at the moment the 4.56's deliver a good 'relaxed' cruising speed of about 45mph hahaha.
