2.5" Lift & 4 Link
Is it possible to do Icon's 2.5" lift with a 4 link? If not, what is the feed back on the PMF 3 link arms?
If I lift the front at all I want to be able to make all other adjustments up front so that the axle is positioned correctly (which besides the above would also include an adjustable track bar). On a related topic, is anyone running traction bars in the back? If so, what brand and what is your feedback? |
IMO traction bars on any solid axle, leaf sprung truck are a huge improvement regardless of make/model. I ran some homemade ones on my titan for 6 years, eliminated all wheel hop, felt more stable without feeling harsh like a rear sway bar does when you go over uneven terrain.
I've read the traction bars should follow the angle of the drive shaft, i'm sure theres some magic number they should be for a f250 crew cab short bed. I ran FK Heim's with high misalignment spacers on the front and standard rubber bushings for the rear. never had a single issue other then basic maintenance/replacing heims when they needed. |
I have traction bars on my current old 2007. Unbelievable how much of a difference they made. Not only did it help starting from a stand still, but even on the interstate it made a difference.
The guy that did my 2007 was in Ft. Myers, FL. From what I can tell, he is no longer around. So, I need to do something else. |
I don't think I've seen a short enough 4 link kit out there yet. 4.5in lifts seem to be where they start. I'm sure PMF would make you one though.

According to PMF website, their 3 link arm fits stock trucks and up to 7" lifts. I am just do not have any history with their products.
I am familiar with Icon as I used it on my old 07. However, I don't think I need to go any higher than 2.5" on the new 2017 in order to fit a 35" tire on a 20x9" wheel. As mentioned above, seems like 4" lifts is where a 4 link becomes an option. Wasn't sure what the driving reason was. |

So, I need to do something else. welded tabs on the u bolt plates, the bushing bolted to those. welded tabs to some 3/16th 2.5" angle iron, then that got welded to the frame rail. use some 1.75 .120 wall tube for the bars. |
