Speedometer DRIVE (on the output shaft) & DRIVEN (at the end of the cable) gears: Rear axle ratio, tire size and transmission type must be known to get the correct parts.

Trans is the Ford 3.03 3 speed, what is the rear axle ratio and tire size?

I'm looking on this page but I do not know what's right

The formula for caluculating the driven gear number of teeth on the speedo cable is as such

# DRIVE TEETH x AXLE RATIO x TIRE REV. PER MI.
_____________________________________________ = # DRIVEN TEETH

1001

To calculate tire revs per mile

20168
_______________________________ = REVIOLUTIONS PER MILE

TIRE DIAMETER (in inches)

The yellow drive gear is 7 teeth if I remember correctly and it appears to have 7 teeth in your pic. ND will correct me if I'm wrong.

So with that

We know the tire diameter is 28.89"

So 20168 / 28.89= 698.096 And round to 698 Revs per mile.

Knowing that we can use the other formula

7 x 3.92 x 698 / 1001 = 19.13 and to round it to 19 So you need a driven gear with 19 teeth.

This is the one you need.

Hope that helps

The Drive gear Is white 6 teeth.
Thank you very much for that information but that piece is like the one that now mounts my transmission of 56 and the box that I am going to mount is the one of 63. I think they are different gears and that is one of my doubts. I also have to buy the cable and I do not know which is correct. A little more help? Thank you

Well you have the formula for working out what driven gear you need so no matter what you end up using for tires or rear end you will be able to work it out.

I'll ND help out with the Speedo Cable, section 170 in the parts book just gives me a headache and I'll likely get it wrong anyway.

Thank you very much for the clarification. I think the C5TZ-17260-N can serve. And which speedometer driven gear? CODZ-17271-B or C4DZ-17271-A. THANK YOU
