zf5 swap in 2wd extended cab from m5od driveshaft question

So I just had a driveshaft rebuilt(all new spicer parts...all three u joints and carrier bearing). That said I've been wanting a zf5 and I found one cheap. If I do the swap, does the slip joint swap out at the ujoint for the zf5 shaft or will I have to purchase a whole new driveshaft?

I sold a zf5 from a small block to a guy that was putting it in a older Bronco that had the same trans you have. He told me that everything would swap over, wasn't sure if he also meant the driveshaft or not.

Also I read a write up from a Bronco Forum that had the same write up and it said that everything would swap over. If I can find the article again i'll give it to you.

Well the issue I'm going to have is the driveshaft I have is designed to slip into the transmission and the zf5 2wd transmission has a spot for a ujoint at the back. I think the zf5 is shorter also but when they are in 4x4s the transfer case adapter takes up the difference.

Even so, you shouldn't need a whole new driveshaft. You can get your current 'shaft modified by adding a slip joint and a yoke for a U-joint at the trans end. You'll be able to reuse the center joint, the carrier bearing and the entire rear section.

Why do you want the zf5? Depending on what you do with the truck, the m5od is a much better suited trans.

My transmission has a whine and it limits the towing capacity to 2000 pounds compared to 6000 with the zf5 and same rear end. My girlfriends 1.6l ecoboost escape currently has the same towing capabilities as my f150 per the manuals.
