motor mounts 1989 E350
Motor mounts on my 1989 e350 Rv with 460 engine getting tired, engine shifts a bit. Question, how is the best way to lift the engine the few inches needed to change them? Manual I looked at suggested lifting on the oil pan, but I suspect that might be more appropriate for small blocks rather than this heavy beast big block. Anyone been down this road?
Thanks Jeff |
Yup, you can still lift it by the oil pan. I'd put a block of wood between the jack and the pan to avoid damage, but it should be fine.

Tom:
You are right, have more experience with Gm,s than Fords ( same GM Dustbuster van in driveway for over 20 years). Thanks for the replies, while oil pan certainly looks robust, I understand weight of this engine, dressed, is approaching 1000 pounds. Was considering using the harmonic damper to raise engine. If something went sideways, balancer a lot easier to repair than oil pan, but will take a look. Thanks for the replies. Jeff |
Do not use the dampener !
I watched a guy snap the crank. You might see how "easy" that is to repair. |
