Steering wheel removal 1969 F100
Hello everyone,
I must replace my steering wheel, replace some horn components and see why the shift 3OTT lever has so much play, seems as if it should have more of a pattern to follow, it's real loose, I know the rubber bushing is shot and I can see the pin has lots of play. Will I need a puller to remove the steering wheel? Is there a thread or post within a build thread regarding a 69 steering column? Please advise All the best Dan |
Never mind. I found the information on the interwebz. http://vintage.mitchell1.com/PClubDa...V2D7311002.pdf

no puller needed
loosen the big center bolt , leave it partially threaded on . with a bigger socket over loose nut ,hit socket with hammer lightly a couple times . wheel will push forward then pop out to loose nut , remove nut and wheel done . |

I see the blinker switch arm is broken an will need replacing also. if not then won't cancel to the off position. There is replace kit but have just short wires to splice together for like under $20 bucks.
There is replacement units that comes with all new wires like $50-60bucks. But can be easy or hard depends how one goes about doing it. This tool pictured below it what is used to remove the wire terminals out of the double face connector under the dash next to the column near where the wire exit. Before pulling the wires up thru the column, tape them together and include a sturdy draw string so you will be able to draw the new wires down the column.

I cut the plug off my old one , with about 3" of wire left that way you can plug the new harness wires into plug one at a time by color .
