Beats the you know what out of me AND..........

Today I headed north out of Vegas and about 100 miles stopped to use the rest room. Started the motor and took off, felt like half power. Codes 0236 and of course, the old 1211. My gauges show everything is normal and it even idles nice. No leaks, oil OK, IC boots OK, map and boost lines OK. Valve cover plugs look OK. I had 'half power' boost and EGT's. I usually run on Gearheads performance tune soooo, I tried the hydra, put it on Andrew's 80hp setting and gained some back but even with my foot on the floor it just wasn't doing good. So, I went for Tony's extreme tune, the most powerful one I have. I gained a lot of the power back but not 100%. Climbed some wicked hills and pulled into a KOA and could smell what I was thinking electrical. It MIGHT have been the crankcase mod's smoke, not sure. I am wondering if the chip might have come loose but still that doesn't make any sense, if one tune works they all should. I'm also wondering about the TPS, I actually have another with me! 850 miles to go, at this point I'm just going to go for it unless you smart guys :) can throw some things at me to check out. If so I'll stay another night here. I'm really at a loss here!

Edit: I actually had two code 0236's at the same time on the scan gauge. Never saw that before! I haven't gotten the AE out yet.

That sucks Glenn hopefully its something as simple as a loose IPR nut.

A little reading for you Glenn. Looks like it's pointing to the MAP?

oldbird1965 05-06-2016 09:53 PM

The nut is on Adam, wish it was that simple.

Todd, I bought a new boost fooler from Swamps. I also bought a new ICP and MAP from Clay. The lines were still connected. Just seems funny to me that it runs great, you stop then it runs half power?

Easier things to check are chip connection, throw that new MAP in and clear the codes.

I thought about the chip connection, wouldn't take long to check that. Also, the new map is in and I cleared the codes. Thanks Todd

Hope you get straightened out wild man! Lol

I'm actually out in the shop working on your old truck...

oldbird1965 05-06-2016 10:45 PM

Its late there but I guess you have to grab the time when you can! Good luck!

Bonanza35 05-06-2016 11:26 PM

Fuel pressure? Did you add fuel when you stopped?

oldbird1965 05-06-2016 11:33 PM

70lbs on my gauge and filled up in Vegas. Fuel filters only have a few thousand on them.

Bonanza35 05-06-2016 11:38 PM

This mitt be stupid how the trailer brakes, are they dragging possibly?

oldbird1965 05-07-2016 12:02 AM

That's a good thought but they are good. If they were dragging I would have been able to max out the boost and EGT's. The way it ran I was only about 17 lbs boost and EGT's were 900 with my foot on the floor.

That's how mine ran when my MAP sensor went bad last year Glenn. I towed my goose neck about 30 miles to pick up part of a truck. Ran great on the way over there. Got loaded and headed home and it wouldn't hardly pull. Had to go all the way down to 3rd gear to pull one mountain, and was beginning to wonder if I was gonna have to drop to 2nd! LOL! Unplugged the MAP sensor and it ran a little better. Put one off of one of the parts trucks on it, and it was back to normal. Hopefully that is all your problem is.

I agree on the map Glenn. Maybe you got a bad one? I hope you have the old one to put back in.

oldbird1965 05-07-2016 09:27 AM

Thanks Bill & Darin. I did bring the old one with me!
