down pipe rub due to motor mounts?

I have a 95 F250, it has an engine from a 97 F350, I used the down pipe from the 95. The down pipe rubs. Have tried everything to include moving the body and pounding out the fire wall. No go. Seems to be not enough space by about 2 inches. So where did that 2 inches go? I am wondering if maybe just maybe the motor mounts are in different locations, hence the space difference. I sure do not want to put that flat 97 down pipe in. Anyone know? Been working on it for 2 months now.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket downpipe. This has nothing to do with model year of engine, truck or mounts, as none of those would have changed between model years. Automatic or manual transmission? Is the downpipe rubbing on the transmission or the cab? Did you actually fold back the firewall/floor flange?

Is it a one-piece or two-piece downpipe?

It is an Automatic. Yes folded it back. It is rubbing on the cab. It is a one piece down pipe.

The original 95 down pipe, appears to be stock. It did not rub until we switched engines. The down pipes (tried two now) we ordered after market we cannot even get them in.

Aftermarket downpipes require firewall modification especially on extended cabs...

I had to cut and beat my firewall in with a hammer to get my 3" downpipe to fit... I have a crew cab

I'm on my third PSD and the first two didn't need this done at all. All cabs are different and this one had to be gutted just to get a 3" DP in.

Mine must be an odd ball than. On my scsb I just pushed the heat shield a little and my diamond eye stainless dp dropped right in. I probably have another 1/2 inch or so clearance.

Same EC/LB Fell right in place like it was stock.

The stock downpipe should not rub. You may have to move the engine on the mounts a bit.

Are both aftermarket downpipes one-piece downpipes? What brand are they?
