I think one of the main attractions of the 'kits' is that it bolts onto your existing spindles and you don't have to install a different suspension to do it. Now, this is all well and fine if you have new kingpins/kingpin bushings, I-beam bushings, radius arm bushings, wheel bearings and the steering gearbox and steering linkages aren't worn and sloppy.

If any of these items on your 51 year old truck are worn (and they most likely are if you've never replaced them during your ownership of the truck), the brakes aren't going to be as effective as they should be --they will only work as good as the condition of the suspension/steering components that they are hung on.

If you're going to have to pull the suspension apart to install new bushings, kingpins, etc. anyway, it just makes more sense to me to install a '73-'79 Ford half ton disc brake setup and install these parts on that suspension --which is what I did on my '69 F100 Ranger. I installed a complete disc brake front suspension from a '77 F100.

If you get the entire disc brake front suspension from a '75-'79 F100/F150, they are configured for the use of installing a factory front swaybar from a '75-'79 F100-F350.

If installing the disc brake front suspension from a Dentside, you'll also need the brackets on either side of the frame where the hard brake line attaches to the flexible brake hose. The '65-'70 brackets aren't configured correctly.

This is just a personal preference but, I would prefer to have Ford engineered parts on my truck, that are a direct fit, than to have a conglomeration of brake components from two or three different automotive vehicle manufacturers.
