2006 Ranger, Which Model Do I Have?
Just bought my first truck. It is a 2006 Ford Ranger 2dr Supercab 126" WB XL, gasoline, 3.0 L.
I have two manuals, the J97 MU Workshop Repair Manual and the WE-C Workshop Repair Manual, but I don't know which to refer to. What do those designations mean, and how do I know which to look at? Thanks in advance! |
Welcome to FTE.
You have the XL trim 3.0L, with 2dr extended cab & long wheel base. Is it manual or auto tranny & is the 3.0L Vulcan engine the flex fuel model???? |
Automatic. Not sure on flex-fuel, it would say it somewhere on the truck, wouldn't it? If I use a Ford VIN lookup tool, it just comes up as gas.
Reviewing these manuals, it seems like every engine type spec'ed in both are diesel. Wonder if these are some sort of international-only manuals. Not planning on overhauling the engine, so maybe most of the body information is the same, but maybe I should look for something else? |
Have a read in this thread on how to decode your VIN # to determine if your 3.0L is a flex fuel model. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...anger-vin.html
Sounds like those manuals are for engines not used in the USA, as the diesel hasn't been an option in a USA Ranger for a looooong time. |
