What's with the ads??
 

I bought the premium membership a few years back to get rid of the ads on here, Now I see a Tire Rack ad on the top ( I could deal with that) and the google ads going down the right side.

All is good on my end.

I don't have adds, but I lost the drop down forum quick launch....

Well, I sure have it on mine, even changed browsers and it's still there. I'll try a different computer.

It just came back...

there was other goofey stuff going on with my old @$$ browser... didn't have the box around the search dialog either... I like living in the stoneage when it comes to browsers...gotta love work!

Went to a different computer and it's still got the ads.

Log out, clear cookies, then log back in.

Ross, I have now done that 3 times, still have the ads.

I have the adds too Joe, and I too am a premium supporter. All I can say is this isn't the ONLY site there is......... I like it here but..............

Got the ads also. I logged off then back on and no change. Tried different browsers and even types of phone - iPhone and android all the same. Maybe they think it's a bonus for being a premium member.

Well everyone knows that it IS all about money these days... And not just here. Every time that I search for something, anything, and then go on to other sites I get adds promoting what I was searching for. You can't get away from it anywhere!
I have gotten where I don't even notice the ads anymore on here, I had to look for them when I read this thread.

I use adblock on firefox and almost never see ads, although i do see that tire rack ad. Nothing along the sides though.

I have it too. The one ad takes about 20% of screen width which stinks. On both the iPhone and droid tablet. Stu

Nick, I installed the adblock, I don't have the ads there now, but I still have the screen reduced with a blank where the ads were. So it is for sure a site added ad space,

I get magic ads One day they're here the next day they're not

I see a very small Tire Rack ad in the upper right, and a blank space on the right. I use AdBlock+.

I have the ads too.

I like the folks on this site, but have just about had it with the BS.
Smaller screen, takes longer to load every page.....and I'm paying for this "improvement"?

Yea, I installed adblock+ myself earlier, so that is what I see now also. but with my eyes getting older and weaker, the small screen is not a plus.

X2 as mine is like this also.

I run at 125% zoom, the white space on the right is less than 10% of the screen.

I got a PM back this morning from IB Jose, he says that they were doing updating advertising layouts across all of their sites and ran into some tech issues on FTE. Promise to get rid of it ASAP.

The ads are gone on mine today !!

Thank goodness the pesky ads are gone, it had nothing to do with this site adding ad space.

try ghostery it stops trackers it might help.

I use Internet Explorer on my laptop running Window's 8.1. The only ad I can find is the small Tire Rack ad next to my log in name (about the size of a thumbnail). I just read in the benefits of a Premium Membership, it says that 1 or 3 year members get fewer ads, not no ads. :) "EDIT" Sorry to bring this back up, I didn't realize that I was on page #2 and this had already been put to rest.

Jim, a couple of days ago, there was a problem with the site. The screen was shifted to the left about 1.5 inches. Those not using AdBlock or those without paid membership were receiving ads down the right side of the screen.

I had the margin error, but couldn't figure out why. Then this thread was started, and I realized I was not seeing the ads, but had the blank space for them on my screen too.

The next day, it was fixed, and everything went back to normal.

haven't been on for quite some time now , but i don't have any of the ads showing on it , but i used to get words highlighted in blue that if you ran over them with the pointer from yer mouse they would bring up an ad and that was and is infuriating as i too pay so i don't have to deal with the crap . haven't seen any yet this time but the night is young !!!!!!!:)
