Gotta love carpet dye.
 

After I was completely worn out from changing my radius arm brackets and bushings I found enough motivation to clean up my carpet and acid wash my wheels in preparation for polish.
I have only had this truck a week but have made a lot of progress.

Thanks. Always been a little OCD about my carpet and cleanliness of my truck in general. Pretty inexpensive to do and really freshens things up.

Did you take your seats out? I think I'm going to do it to mine

I didn't tonight but I think I will tomorrow so I can get all of the carpet. Plus I found a little herb in the ashtray :-jammin so I wanna make sure to clean the truck out real good. Hate to go to jail for something the PO left under a seat.

Dang that's crazy. I see a booster seat. Definitly don't want the kid into it. Sorry another question, where did you get the acid wash for the rims

i have always found that removing the carpet and giving it a good bath in the tub was a relatively easy and cheap way to spruce up an old vehicle, but i had never considered the possibility of dying it; thanks for the tip !

is carpet dye something that the average parts store is going to have in stock ?

I used a chrome wheel cleaner. It was spoke wheel cleaner from AutoMagic (the brand a lot of detail shops use) Used it for years on pontoons when I ran a service department at a boat dealer. Just wear gloves, it will burn your skin. Helps to take a scotch brite pad and scrub it in. Just don't let it dry on the wheel, makes a mess. Be very liberal with it and make sure the wheel is covered completely. I bought a gallon but probably only used a 1/3 of it if that. Sprayed it on with a regular spray bottle.

I bought mine at a little hole in the wall parts store that is an AutoMagic dealer, they run a truck that delivers to detail shops and car lots. But Advance Auto carries it and I'm sure other major parts stores do to.

I like buying it from the little store cause they will let me take a can out and test the color. Plus they have a lot of colors. The color looks different on carpet than it does vinyl, if you choose to dye any seats or the dash.

If you don't put floor mats down it will wear out over time. Just remember what color you used.

If you are covering any major stains you will need to go a few shades darker for the best appearance.
