Heater Plug in Bumper
 

Has anyone tried installing a plug in your front bumper for your block heater? I just installed one in mine for the heater and another one for an onboard charger. What do you think?

I mounted the charger to the fender well.

Oil heater? Not a block heater like from the factory?

And having them in the plastic air damn leaves it awfully vulnerable, way too easy to get damaged.

I would move it. Why don't you use the block heater?

Beings how the OP is in SC and not in the Snow & Salt belt like I am, it will probably be just fine.. But yes, when down low like that, it would be subject to more damage from other road debris. I was thinking about doing something similar but putting it behind the license plate. I would get a fold down license plate bracket like I have on the read of my 69 Camaro since it is spring loaded..
The only other bad thing about having the plug in down low is "out of sight - out of mind"... I'd probably forget I had it plugged in and drive off with the cord still connected. I have draped the extension cord from my shop over the drivers side mirror as a reminder..

Never went to that much trouble. I just ran it to the inside of the front bumper and wire tied it so I could reach through the opening and pull 6-12" worth out so I could easily plug in with extension cord. I also kept an inline light on my plug, so I could see for sure that juice was flowing. Mine was plugged in every day for about six months, so it was more of a habit to unplug than to not unplug, but the extension cord across the DS mirror is a good technique to ensure you don't forget and drive off.

Not sure why the OP chose oil heater (pan?) over block heater? Block heater is much more effective, and not that difficult to install.
