What’s the Dumbest Thing You’ve Ever Done with Your Truck?

One of our editors here at Ford Truck Enthusiasts used his iPhone to capture the “Built Ford Tough” demonstration you see above. Specifically, the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport employee backed his Super Duty into a Virgin America Airbus A320 to give airline passengers crystal-clear evidence that a Ford truck is tough enough to bring their mornings (and lives) to a screeching halt by grounding a commercial passenger jet. This all happened on a Monday morning following Easter, so maybe we can label this one “Stupidity by Hangover”.

Read more on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts' homepage blog, and then tell us about the stupidest thing you've ever done in your truck.

LOL

Not a SD, but I purchased a 1988 F150 XLT Lariat new with a 5.0. First dumb thing I did was think it could handle our 28ft Jayco. Second dumb thing was somewhere I got the idea it took 5 quarts (hell all my cars always took 5 quarts back then). It took 6. But I ran it on 5 quarts for 10 years and 100k miles, till I finally realized my mistake. Little engine that barely could. But I guess I should be grateful. It never blew up on me.

Sounds like you really tested that "Built Ford Tough" slogan. I'm glad it ran for you all those thousands of miles.

with my old f150 i overloaded it with concrete and got a flat. i then finished the last 2 miles on the flat. it ripped the brake line off halfway there

I also chained rocks to the bumper and ripped them out of the gound.

Last year at the Ohio truck meet, I towed a 15k pound trailer in my 2000 up a steep grade while three quarts low on oil.

While I did not get a picture of it I should have. I bought enough blow in insulation to get the free blow in machine rental at the local Home Depot. The only problem is that you really should of had two truck to haul that much product. It was stack well above the cab. Got a lot of looks, but luckily no tickets. I am sure I would have had a police officer saw it though.

Ummm, this goes back to the late 60's, and it involved unprotected activities while parked under the moon. Neither dad ever found out and we were lucky. To this very day I wonder what became of Pam.

It was a Studebaker.

Tryed to pull a gooseneck with 15 round bales with my 5.4. It did it...but I could not go over 40 mph. Approx 1200 lbs per bale.

Where to start? My old 94 f150 would be a toss up with playing tug of war with a brand-new Peterbilt Simi or driving through 4 feet of water or jumping it high and far enough to crush the oil filter with the front axel.... The list go's on and on but the I'd probably pick selling the truck as the stupidest thing I did with it, 190,000 miles and it still drove as good as the day I got it and it looked almost as good other than the beginnings of rust and the dent in the tailgate from pulling a tow strap hook threw 4in of GM car frame.

15 bales! And I was feeling all bad ass pulling 14, although 1200 lbs is very light for Iowa hay. 36,000# gross isn't stupid for a super duty is it?

Sold it.. :(

Does having sex in the back seat with someone I should not have been with count?

With my 150, had a Boss Standard Duty installed on truck that has a 9inch lift and factory gears. Cracked the diff cover in half. This was a blessing in disguise as bigger gears and lighter plow were both installed and 250 was purchased for Boss plow.

I'll leave it at that.. :-innocent

Out with a buddy one night in his F250 4X4. The drunk in front of us at the traffic signal did not move after two signal changes. So, my buddy puts it in 4 wheel and pushes the sleeping driver out into the intersection. His brakes were still locked and made a loud squealing noise, but he did not move or wake up. We were proud of our service to humanity, but probably not much more sober.
