A/C idler bearing

1 Attachment(s)
The bearing on my A/C idler pulley is making some noise when it's wet or cold outside. I figure it needs to be replaced. What are my options? Does anyone sell the idler & bearing assembly? Do I have to somehow remove and replace the bearing in the pulley? This is a dealer add on A/C set up. Here is a pic of the idler pulley.

If you have a local bearing place(or a napa?), they will have the bearing. Nothing uncommon and I replaced mine years back.

With the belt off, unscrew the hex head and the pulley should come off the bracket. Knock the bearing out and replace it. Should be cheap.

Thanks. I'll take it off and disassemble.

That bearing is the same exact bearing as the front bearing in your alternator. (Unless you did the 3g of course). Buy an alternator bearing at your local parts house.

Thanks for the tip. I'll pick one up Friday.

Thanks, Orich. I've been wondering about that thing. I've considered just replacing it so that I know it's good.

Watch getting the screws out of the housing. Usually just snap off. Might want to soak with PB blaster or such and give it a couple days. Work slowly and easily with screwdriver.
