Stan's or FPA headers starter concern

I'm saving for headers and am considering Stan's or FPA's for my FE powered, 2wd, 1970 F250. I like their design etc. Is anyone using these and can you remove and replace a stock type starter without a lot of hassle?

I can't answer your question, but I know if you call Stan's, Stan himself will answer and I'm sure he will be able to answer any questions you have, he's an old timer that's been around forever and his headers are (IMHO) the best out there.

I have a set of Stan's tri-y headers on my 76 highboy 390. It's tight for sure but can be done. Might be different for 2wd. I like my headers though, well constructed.

I've got Stan's Tri-Ys on my 2wd F250 and the starter is caged in there pretty well. I had to pull the header to get to it, but it's no big deal. The header comes out real easy.

I agree with Stromburg, I wouldn't trade the Stan's for anything, the set I've got is at least 15 years old (according to Stan) and is still plenty solid. And Stan is a great guy too.

I do not know about Stan's or FPA's headers, but having to pull a header just to drop a starter get's to be a big deal when you have to start having to replace $30 header gaskets.

But really how often does the starter go out? I would replace the old one with a new quality one when the headers go on. And use lots of anti seize on the new grade 8 headers bolts with nord-lock washers.

Maybe with a heat shield put in place, NOT header wrap or header wrap on the starter, just a simple heat shield from a newer car gas tank area from a JY, you will not have any heat effect issues on the starter.

Thanks. I think I'll have my starter rebuilt here locally when the time comes to install the headers.
