BSing
Lets that stands for Barn Shoveling?
Boat Sinking
Boeing Striking
Bad Smell
Bavarian Schnitzel
Big Sister

And we can go on and on.

I happen to like Boeing Striking.

Sean :-drink

Forgot my BTW
Anyone have an Alternator for a 94-97 7.3 diesel ? Needs to be in good shape
willing to trade that fan or a 3 1/3 ton floor jack or ??

GruesomeJeans 08-02-2013 03:55 AM

Boeing Striking is a good one... Do you know of any members heading towards Burlington WA? there is a new member over on the bronco side and I think her rear axle has sploded on her 79 Bronco... She doesn't know much about cars I don't think but would really like to get it on the road and is asking for help. It's 1.5 hours from me which wouldn't be bad if I knew the beetle would make it or I knew the bronco wasn't leaking and had a full tank. She mentioned something about food, beer, and fishing..

Linky for anyone who might like to help.

well boys, i thought i would check in here...

i was out last night looking at a friend's jeep cherokee - one which had been sitting in his driveway for the last 6 months because it wasn't safe to drive. we started screwing with it, and stumbled upon the problem.
the symptoms were simple - starts cold and idles fine, drives fine, but idle speed creeps up to where the brakes can't hold the vehicle still when in drive. stays up as long as the engine is warm. cruising at 55 doesn't require you to touch the gas pedal. he'd already tried all the usual stuff - IAC and TPS which everybody told him had to be the problem.
looking for a possible vacuum leak, i probed around with an unlit propane torch, just about everywhere, with no change. then i reached for the can of carb cleaner (which i like to call a can of whoop-azz). IAC was manually closed and unplugged, idle speed was 1500 - until i sprayed injector #5, idle speed dropped significantly. #6 did the same thing. spraying them both stalled the engine. there it was - massive vacuum leak at the injector o-rings. the evil problem that had all the jeep guys stumped. well $25 later we had new o-rings, which of course i greased while installing, and the engine acted like it should. victory.

and while boeing striking is good, beamer smashing is even better :)

on another random note, one of my little LED flashlights offended me tonight because it would only work on its low setting, so i tore it apart, found the broken solder joint at the switch, soldered it up, and it worked perfect. i don't know how many of these i've thrown away for this problem. it was one of these little guys

Checking in with ya'll

I've been busy with work. I'm working 5 days a week at NAPA, and am filling my evenings up working at my bosses house building a retaining wall for his pool. In the limited amount of free time that I have, I've been making steady progress on my bug, started parting out my 79 (sold the engine/trans Monday) and sold my diesel yesterday. Now I'll be picking up something awesome tonight... I'll post pictures later :D

It's weird to say, but I'm kinda looking forward to the school year, because I can finally slow down and get some spare time where I can relax, unwind, and hangout.

GruesomeJeans 08-10-2013 12:58 AM

Is anyone seeing the Meteor Shower right now? It's supposed to go all weekend.
Perseid meteor shower 2013: Catch the falling stars.

I got a short video I'll post if it turns out ok.

Yahiko 08-10-2013 01:50 AM

If I had the fuel I would drive over to Vantage WA and park somewhere near
the I-90 Ryegrass summit rest station
Here is the traffic-cam

Turns out I guess it's lightening?? I don't know, there has been sudden downpours and thunder. This isn't any lightening I've ever seen though.

IB Tim 08-10-2013 04:33 PM

Good evening Washington...hope your Saturday night is the best! Enjoy and stay safe...

srisher 08-10-2013 11:13 PM

hello from union I just thought I would drop in and hi and see how everyone is doing

GruesomeJeans 08-11-2013 12:54 AM

Hey there Tim and Srisher, how are you guys holding up? Things here are peachy so far. Drank my way through most of a 24 pack of mountain dew with some friends and I'm jamming out to Queen now :D.

srisher 08-11-2013 10:27 AM

GruesomeJeans, im doing rather well thanks. I wish there was more time to work on my trucks but such is life

GruesomeJeans 08-11-2013 03:27 PM

You know, I've got plenty of time it's money and knowledge I don't have. If I had more of those then I could fix a lot of my problems. But like you said, Such is life. We will get there some day :).

srisher 08-11-2013 03:32 PM

Boy is that the truth. What are you working on?

GruesomeJeans 08-11-2013 03:43 PM

I got my 78 Bronco:
http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/...ps57b38173.jpg

It has numerous problems and the most prominent are the brakes, the engine, and gear ratios.

Next is my 1971 VW Super Beetle.
http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/...ps62145642.jpg

It's also got a lot of issues namely the engine and the rust. Among a ton of other things. The bronco is my baby though and will always be the center of my concern. The VW was bought as a daily driver/project/childhood dream car. I'd like to make the truck into more of a toy than a daily driver and the bug into a stock sleeper.

srisher 08-11-2013 04:16 PM

That is a nice bronco and vw you got there. I know someone who is selling a front and rear end out of a bronco like yours if your interested i could find out what he wants for the set.

GruesomeJeans 08-11-2013 04:37 PM

Depends on what axles they are and what gears are in them along with how much. Right now we estimated they are 2.73 in the rear and 3.55 in the front. Thus, I cannot used 4wd or I will be in deeper trouble. As of right now, I don't have space for more car parts otherwise I'd be in trouble with my parents. Plus it would be a while before they got put in unless I just rob the gears out and sell the axle housings. Mine are good it's just the gears I need.

srisher 08-11-2013 05:22 PM

Ok well i will find out what gears are in them. I think 9inch rear and dana 44 front but i will comferm and get details for you.

GruesomeJeans 08-11-2013 05:55 PM

That would be great, thanks. Do you know where they are located? Hopefully not too far away.

srisher 08-11-2013 06:33 PM

They are in shelton im not sure where you are

GruesomeJeans 08-11-2013 06:49 PM

Ouch, that's an hour and 8 minutes. I am down in a little town called Algona by the SuperMall. It's near Auburn.

srisher 08-11-2013 08:18 PM

I know where that is at...a bit of a drive indeed

GruesomeJeans 08-11-2013 08:51 PM

I don't know if it would be worth it for 2 axles though. Depends on the gears, the condition, and price I guess. If I feel it's something I can afford and it would be worth going that far to get them, then I'll try to make it happen.

Yahiko 08-11-2013 09:35 PM

Dylan if you get the full assembly and that would be the best way to sell
you parts after you get what you need. Your going to need a truck or trailer
to transport them. If you can find a way to help with the fuel cost I do have
a truck that can pick the stuff up. Just keep me in mind.

Pfft a truck and trailer, are you crazy?!? Ha, I'll just strap them to the top of my VW :D It can handle it! :-X04:-X04

GruesomeJeans 08-14-2013 08:13 AM

Holy crap... That would be nice to have, I'd probably blind myself with it though.

joshofalltrades 08-17-2013 01:18 AM

whats happening boys... i haven't been on here in like a week :)

well yesterday i picked up some pretty new wheels to put on my van - now i just have to buy tires for them. i'll have load range G michelins on there - so no more complaining about constant tire failures for me... front tires come in on tuesday, and rear ones when i have the money for them. in the past week i've had 2 front tires go bulging on me, so i had to reclaim some out-of-round junkers from the trash pile to get by for a few more days. i can't wait till those days are over!

GruesomeJeans 08-17-2013 01:22 AM

Hey Josh, it sure has been some time. Do you think you'll make it to the meet coming up?

joshofalltrades 08-17-2013 01:28 AM

i'll go check that thread now and see if it looks possible...

Yahiko 08-17-2013 01:28 AM

What date did we end up with?

AND BTW I was there this last week and on Wednesday they
were busy. I asked how Thursdays were and they said about the same.

Sean :-drink

joshofalltrades 08-17-2013 01:36 AM

yeah, i'm not seeing much of a date chosen yet... i just posted in the meet thread about my schedule... lets see if we can make it work

GruesomeJeans 08-17-2013 01:42 AM

I'll take a gander. Sean, you said they are busy on Thursdays? Weird.

Yahiko 08-17-2013 01:51 AM

No I said no $$
Right now I am running it closer that you are.

There is talk in the meet thread about moving it to the 26h which is a Monday.

joshofalltrades 08-20-2013 12:29 AM

well boys, whats happening...

i get new front tires tomorrow, and i can't freikin' wait! i own about 20, 235/85r16s, and i'll be damned if i can find 2 that are still round! tomorrow i get a pair of 225/70r19.5s up front, and in a week or two when i can afford it, i get another pair on the rear. no more tire problems for a good long while i hope! up front i'll have michelin XZE, and in the rear will be michelin XDS2. they sure ain't cheap, but i think they'll be well worth it!

GruesomeJeans 08-20-2013 02:34 AM

If these wear out fast you should get in touch with tire manufacturers to test out new tires for them :p

Not much is going on here, still trying to learn some chords on my acoustic guitar. It's slow going but I'm trying. Other than that, I'm also in the process of cutting together a WAFTE window sticker to put on the market. I'd like something simple yet elegant and I've got some ideas to try. If they turn out ok then I'll make a thread for them with a picture and a link for buying them. I also wanted to get a small banner made for this chapter so that when we do a big group think like a BBQ or Car Show we can fly our flag and show everyone who we are. Maybe get some of those business card things printed out that they have on the site.

joshofalltrades 08-20-2013 02:40 AM

congrats on becoming the official chapter leader - you've been acting as leader for quite some time now!

yeah, i picked up a guitar a few years back, never got around to learning to play very well, so i gave it to a high school kid at church who will appreciate it - not that its hard to learn, but hell, i have like no music background, so i was hopeless from the start :)
