Wet intake manifold dry egr cooler?
Yesterday I started r&r my truck for a cracked egr cooler. The intake was wet so I thought that I had a cracked egr cooler (which I thought was weird because I have an 03 and my deltas were only 11). Well when I took the egr cooler out its dry as a bone and no mark of coolant leaking. What I was wondering is how can my egr cooler not be leaking and my intake is soaked in coolant. Could it be my head gaskets or is my intake manifold leaking? Please help

Is there anyway to pressure test the egr cooler now it's off the truck to guarantee that it's not leaking

Probably just oil from the ccv

First part of tis TSB:
EOT/ECT check TSB 09-8-3 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...3&d=1318287140 |
I thought that it might of been oil but then were is my coolant disappearing to I am pretty positive it's coolant and the intake is soaked with it

Soot and coolant mixed looks a lot like oil. :(

I understand that but I am still losing coolant

I pressure tested the egr cooler and couldn't get it to leak at all but my intake is soaked and I lost coolant please help

Loosing coolant without an external leak is indicative of a blown head gasket that is for sure, I have an old Landcruiser that I am working on with the same loss of coolant, no EGR though. If the head gasket is leaking you should also feel a loss of power because water is now entering one or more cylinders and mixing with fuel prob making a miss, also check your oil for water, is it frothy or real lean or thin.

I don't feel any power loss and the truck ran great before the tear down is it possible that a blown head gasket could put coolant in the intake manifold
