Are you at 1/4 tank? And have you done the intank mods? It could be a fuel thing if that's the case.

Where are they located

JWC 3 05-17-2013 09:25 PM

If your truck has them they are inside the tank , inside the fuel pick up assy. The foot and bottom come off and there are 2 small screens inside . They are a fine mesh and get plugged with trash and bacteria . I have cleaned out many . Most here recomend modifying the pick up assy . Serch it . I think , Hutch Mod . My shop just cleans the screens and tank .

Check the IPR valve. see if the brass nut on the back is on and tight.
also check the ICP valve. un-plug it and see if there is oil in the inside of the plug it's self. usually a truck that dies when hot has a IPR going out

The reason they are asking if you are below 1/4 tank is that the pickup foot is known to break, and therefore, starts to suck air instead of fuel...causing the truck to cut-off. When it's sitting there and getting primed by your fuel pump, it will start and run for a bit. Although, 15 minutes is a fairly long time for a broken pickup foot...so it's more likely there is blockage in your screens in that scenario.

Try to get an air hose to blow down the fuel line from your pump toward the tank. Short bursts. And make sure your fuel cap IS OFF when you do this. That may blow debris and blockages back into the tank and clear it up for the time being.

What about your CPS? Has it ever been replaced? If not, this could be a simple CPS problem.

Lastly, PLEASE DO NOT USE ALL CAPS. PEOPLE TAKE IT AS IF YOU ARE YELLING AT THEM.

You could have water in your in the bottom of your fuel filter to just a idea i had a7.3 idi. And it would cut out if it had a little water in the bottom of fuel filter

Forgot to say in my original reply...DITTO to this comment. Your IPR nut if loose or missing will cause all sorts of crazy issues, including it dying. On mine, it was when I tried to accelerate from a complete stop. Once I put the nut back on (fell into the valley), it ran like a champ.

Loose nuts are known for causing all kinds of problems. Don't overlook the one behind the steering wheel. :-missingt Sorry! I couldn't resist. :o

The Hutch mod is a link in my signature below. The quick-disconnects are part of the problem, but they wouldn't likely kill the engine - just make it louder and rob you of power at the top end.
