bottom mount leveling kit

hey guys, have a question... I have a 3" leveling block that is a bottom mount type... with the shock extension bracket... my question is are the bottom mount spacer just as good as the top mount...? I see that most people use top mounted spacers, or they get different coils all together, and I was just wondering if it's because the bottom mount are worthless or what? if they are good, then I'll just use the one i have, if not then I"ll get a different leveling kit... thanks

nobody has any input on this? I understand that it's kinda a cheap leveling kit, but fab tech uses the exact same spacer, only diffference is that they used longer shocks rather then a shock extension bracket...and fab tech is a pretty well talked about brand if I'm not mistaken... so.. no takers? nothing?

Not too sure on comparison but I've got a 1.5" spacer and I've got about 20,000 miles on it so far and it rides as good as stock. Haven't heard anything bad about it either.

Do you have a bottom mounted or top mounted...

JustinF08 02-13-2013 07:53 PM

It's a bottom mount. My kit didn't have shock mount extensions tho. I installed some Bilstein shocks when I did it tho.

alright good deal... well I guess I'll go ahead and try this bottom mount... 3" kinda bothers me, cause everybody does 2.5 max... guess we'll see... thanks for speakin up btw...

Just a little peice of advice, don't know what your plans are but if you go 3" I'm the front ya might wanna get a bigger block to replace the stock one. What size tires are you tryin to run?

countryboy73703 02-13-2013 09:03 PM

a bigger block? for the back? I have a 1" block that i'm gonna add to the back, an eventually just relace it with a single block... so in theory, 3 up in the front, and 1 up in the back.. eveything will be level... just gonna stick with 35's...

A 2.5" level kit with 1" added rear blocks, or 350 blocks on a 250 give a level stance. A 3" front kit and 1" additional in rear will make front 1/2" high in front.

With 3", I would strongly recommend an adjustable trackbar. You will likely suffer from the "Death Wobble" with a 3 inch drop of your axle.

oh.. well.. hmm... well if I get it all together and I can see the 1/2 inch difference then I'll get a 2.5... wouldn't be much of a loss to me cause I originally bought it for an '05 f250 5.4 I had.. and never got around to putting it on, and then got rid of it.. so I just happened to still have it 2 trucks later, and saw that it would fit my '08 6.4 so... I plan on measuring before and after, and if it looks like the front is hirer, and I'll either swap the front, or swap the back for a bigger 1 piece block, which honeslty is what i might do anyway caue I'm not a fan of stacking blocks...

hmm... well maybe I'll wait and just get the 2.5 ... does the half inch make that much of a difference?

All I know is that the Icon replacement springs leveling kit I installed has been terrific so far. I know that many people who have gone higher, or used blocks to lift the front springs have experienced this problem and had to buy the track bar. Here's what I don't understand Countryboy, I am not sure hwat you are driving, but if you have a truck worth more than 20K, why would you cheap out on the suspension, particularly the front suspension?

Well I'm not intentionally trying to be cheap.. I just happen to have the kit... And from what I can tell its exactly the same as the fab tech as far as the front block goes... Only mine is 3" and the other is 2.5... Btw its an '08 250 6.4.... I'm just trying to simply get good advice to see if its alright to use what I have... Ill pay for a top mounted 2.5 spacer if I have to.. But that's why I'm posting cause if I don't HAVE to then I'm not gonna waste the money... That's all im getting at...
