All right everyone, I’m back from deployment #5. With no further deployments planned for the next year, it’s time to make some serious progress on my 1960 F-100 concours restoration. The goal is to complete the rolling chassis by the end of spring. To do so, I need everyone’s help.

Here is a list of items requiring the assistance of those on this forum:

I need the following parts:

-OEM Styleside rear bumper brackets (contour bumper). I need these with all the original Ford frame-mounting mounting hardware

-Rear leaf spring U-bolt plates. These plates sit on top the leaf springs, of which are held down by the U-bolts. NumberDummy was able to locate one NOS plate (B7C-5708-A), however I no longer see it available (NumberDummy, can you confirm this?). Need 2, new or used will suffice.

These parts are for a concours restoration, and need to be virtually rust free. Light surface rust is acceptable.

Any assistance finding a source for these parts:

-Rear leaf spring clamps. An example of the clamps is in the picture below (clamp on the right). I need four of these and the respective rubber pads. It appears the NOS replacements are generic bolt-on clamps, of which are incorrect. NumberDummy, can you confirm this, and a possible part number/source for the correct clamps?

Ford originally placed paper gaskets behind the front hub grease baffles. This part is not listed in my parts catalogs or repair manual. The material is the same as found on the rear brake backing plate gaskets, which are available in reproduction and NOS form. The material is brown/tan with a smooth, wax-like surface. Does anyone know where I could find blank sheets of the gasket material? Below is a picture of the material in reference.

I employed the Benson Ford Research Center to find and scan any assembly line or archive 57-60 Ford truck images. While they were able to find some information, research did not reveal any reference photos. I’m still highly interested in any additional photos you have and are willing to share, particularly portraying the chassis and drivetrain. Please send to TransAm400@gmail.com

What the heck are front hub grease baffles?

Contour bumper brackets were also used on Flaresides. The same contour bumper and brackets were also used with the 1957/60 Styleside bed on 1961/66 trucks.

I sent you an email with the source that has B7C-5708-A.

I don't know the proper name but they catch the grease if your bearing seal fails and directs it to the outside of the backing plate rather then the brake shoe side.

OP's description of baffle (2240) location is confusing, is shown in brake pics, not in wheel/drum/hub pics. Mounts on inside of backing plates.

Front baffle gasket isn't shown in pics, but its basic part number (1193) is listed in the baffle section for 4WD's. So I looked up the number for the OP's application and VOILA!

B7C-1193-A .. Gasket-FRONT Brake Grease Baffle / 1957/65: F100 2WD & P100 (P Series Parcel Delivery) / Obsolete

EVANS FORD in Carrolton IL has 5 = 217-942-3636.

ANTIQUE AUTO SUPPLY in Arlington TX has 7 = 817-275-2381.

None of my sources depict the baffle gaskets, nor list a part number for such. I'm guessing these either came with the baffles or were strictly limited to initial assembly of the vehicle. I can easily make the gaskets, but need assistance finding the proper material (matching the gasket material in the pictures above).

Thanks for the e-mail. I'll call and order the spring plate today. By any chance, would you happen to have a source for the spring clamps? All the replacements I have seen are the bolt-on style. I need the proper clamps with the round hole and tab.

Parts should be back from powdercoat next week. Pics to follow soon.

FRONT baffle gaskets listed in post 5. Did not come with baffles, listed by themselves. Will discuss the spring clamps, brackets and etc when you call tomorrow.

You never cease to amaze me, and you just made my week. For nearly a year, the restored front grease baffles have been sitting, awaiting discovery of some NOS or reproduction gaskets. I'll be out of town tomorrow and away from my project for the next several days. I'll contact you sometime next week to discuss the spring clamps.

In the meantime, can you verify the following part numbers haven't been superseded:

C0TT-4022-A
B7A-4236-B
B7AZ-4209-M (also need source if available in NOS form)

I was able to locate a second NOS rear spring plate. Both rear spring plates and the two front grease baffle gaskets have been ordered. Thanks again for your assistance with their location.

With respect to your last reply, can you provide the sources for the listed parts? I ran the part numbers through both Parts Voice and Rear Counter with no listings (with the exception of B7A-4236-B and C0TT-4022-A).

Both B7A-4209-A (was later replaced by B7AZ-4209-M) & 8A-5334-F are listed on PV. Antique Auto in Arlington TX (817-275-2381) shows one of each (webpage last updated 6/29/2012 :().

Green Sales has B7A-4209-A only.

8A-5334-F = NORTZ & VIRKLER FORD in Lowville NY has 9 = 315-376-6594.

Those gaskets above remind me of - gasket, axle flange.

OP posted pic of gaskets for an example of type of gasket material he wanted to make the baffle gaskets he couldn't find.

Doesn't need gasket material anymore, as I found the baffle gaskets. See post 5.

Gaskets arrived and are installed with the restored baffles. Pics posted in original thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...l#post12655499.

No luck with the rear spring clamp rubber insulators. When speaking with the parts department rep, the NOS insulators were not the correct size. The NOS insulators were the same size as the reproductions, designed for the bolt-on replacement style clamps. It appears Mac's has the correct insulators, but they are only available with the clamps, which have the incorrect tabs. I'll send Dennis Carpenter some pictures of the original clamps and see what they may have in their warehouses.
