Ford remote start
This may be a long shot, but asking is much easier than doing tons of reading and trying to figure this out myself.
We recently picked up a 2000 EX with a 7.3 that has this installed https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...1&d=1333416872 The seller made it work once, somehow. When we try to use the remote start feature the horn chirps and then the engine starts to turn over, but it wont start. I tried it sitting in the driver seat and noticed that the theft light was flashing when the remote start was turning the motor over. Using the key to start it, the theft light doesn't flash and the thing starts up just fine. What am I missing? Any suggestions on what to check or do next? Why won't it start using the remote start, but it did at least once before? Also, does anyone know how to, or what it takes to program these things? I'd like to change it so the glow plugs are on longer before the starter starts to spin. There's also this https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...1&d=1333416872 Since the older I get, the more I appreciate avoiding serious injury or death, can anyone tell me how to put this thing in service mode? |
If your truck uses "chipped keys", you will have to hide a key near the steering wheel. They can program a new key with out cutting to match your locks, good luck!

-Sit in the truck with the key in the ignition (off position) and remote start it -If it starts fine, you'll need to program another key and place it near the PATS receiver near the ignition switch. |
All the factory Ford remote starts I installed you never needed an extra key. They have a sense wire that wraps around the pats ring. Start your truck and then hit the remot start button, shut your truck off pull out the key and see if it stays running. If so you have a programing problem or broke wire.

It stayed running. Is there a way to program this myself or am I looking at a trip to the dealer?

Chris:
Here is the manual: Remote_Start_Installation_Guide and here is something else to check... I have a dealer installed ford remote start (Eng P/N 2W7J-19G367-AA) - JustAnswer Good luck!! |
2w7j-19g367-aa
I have a 2004 ford excursion 6.0 with this remote start 2w7j-19g367-aa. It doesn't work and I believe it's causing some issues. Those being the radio turns on after I lock it with any remote factory or remote start. When unlocking with remote start remote it randomly flashes the running board lights and interior lights (after I stopped pushing the button it just keeps going) remote start doesn't work. I'm just looking to remove it but don't know how or if it'll mess anything up
