Diff b/t max tow and reg tow on FX4
 

I'm trying to build/price a truck and the tow packages are confusing me.:-roll

The FX4 comes standard with a tow package and you can also get the max tow for $1000 more (in Canada) What do you get for the extra$$? The only diff that I can see is the max tow has a brake controller and it says 7700lb payload. Is that 7700 payload an increase over the standard payload?

I do want the most towing and payload that I can get as I will be towing a big travel trailer but I don't want to pay $1000 for a brake controller.

IIRC, the regular FX4 comes with 3.73's and the max tow gets you 4.10's

the only thing that bothers me about that is the curb weight of the FX4 might be considerably more than the XLT's, which mandates the 4.10's for the extra towing capacity.

maybe someone knows more about this than I do...

It's 7,700lbs GVWR, not payload. ;)
What's a "big" travel trailer? You'll most likely be payload limited, and depending how "big" "big" is, you may need the HD payload package to stay within the limits, especially if you are looking at the screw.

Big is 27ft 7000lbs empty(8500 loaded?). THe truck is a screw, there wasn't an option for the HD payload package with the FX4 screw, just max tow?

The trailer tongue will eat about 1,000 - 1,100 lbs of your payload. A regular FX4 has maybe 1,200 - 1,300 lbs of payload. So if you want to stay within the limits, that would mean the trailer and a driver, that's it. If you want to load anything else (family members, bikes, cooler, generator, firewood, etc), the you'll need that much more.
Now many people just go over. I personally don't think that's a good idea, but that's up to you.
You are right, can't get HD payload with FX4. It would have to be a XLT or Lariat if you'd go that route. Bummer, I know.

Dry hitch weight is 805lbs and I will be using a weight dist hitch.

Yeah, it will still most likely eat about 1,000 lbs of your payload, probably a little over that.
My trailer is listed with a dry hitch weight of 440 lbs, it ended up being > 600 lbs with the trailer still empty. Dry hitch weight does not include propane (70 lbs), battery (60lbs for one), or any options (like A/C, water heater, etc.). Nothing in the tanks, and it's not always feasible to tow with empty tanks only. Like a hundred pounds in the water heater. You can't always drain that, and they sits far forward on most trailers.
Also, you may transfer 20% back to the trailer axles with the WDH hitch, but than you need to add ~ 150lbs back in for the hitch itself.

Get the right truck now, believe me! I did not listen to people, and when it didn't feel right, I went to a weigh station. Then I bought a new truck, LOL. ;)

I pick up my max tow Ecoboost Fx4 this Saturday....it comes with 3.73s. Payload is 1900, tow capacity is 11,200.

It will be lower than that, because the number Ford publishes does not include any options. My guess is you'll see 1,700 - 1,750 lbs. Post the sticker when you get the truck.
428, you'll be okay with the max tow's payload depending on how many people you have in the truck, and what (or what not) you put in the bed. You'd have about 600 - 700 lbs for everything else besides the trailer. Don't forget that all aftermarket accessories / mods count also. Bedliner (50 lbs), canopy (300 lbs ?), tonneau, etc.

on my 2012 fx4 supercab 145' maxtow the weight sticker says 1772#, I am not sure of the weight that I can tow, it is either 11,300 or 11,100, I have no intention of going that high and Im not going to worry about it.

That makes sense. A comparable super crew and/or longer bed would have a lower number because of the added weight while having the same GVWR of 7,700 lbs.
