Tire Chains
I'm going to be doing some plowing this winter with my Ex and was thinking about getting some tire chains. Specifically these
LIGHT TRUCK TIRE CHAIN They are about 70 bucks a pair. When plowing, are these used full time or only when its bad out? Also, do people get them for the front and rear tires? |
Go with the rear.........and only if and when you need them....chains on the front work great but shake your teeth out

The diamond chains from them don't shake you up in the front. They work pretty good for me, but those you list just might well shake you up.

I plow with my f250 and have for ten years. I dont own a set of chains nor ever had a need and I do some pretty steep drives. With decent tires and weight in the back ive never had a need. I would say you dont need any but thats just my opinion.

I keep emergency tire chains in the truck
STRAP ON TIRE CHAINS I've only had to use them once - was pushing snow into a pile heading slightly downhill and went too far in and got hung up. Back tires were on the pavement, but it was snowing hard with the heavy wet stuff and I had not traction. I put the chains on both back tires and they got me out. I also tested them out once after we had a storm and I was concerned about getting stuck; threw them on the back tires "just in case" and didn't have a problem with them. They're not to be used driving around for miles and miles, but they work great for what they are intended for, don't take up much room (I store them under the back seat), and are simple to put on and take off. |
