Factory Tach question?

I found a gauge cluster at a local Junk yard that has a tach. My 84 didnt come with one, and has the idot lights on it. Would there be a way to hook up the tach in my truck? Just dont wanna buy it and have it not work.

Thanks,
Alpine

Factory Tach question?

The factory tach is wired as follows: C terminal: coil -
B: Switched power, on it ACC. and Run. G: Ground 8: cyl. switch, ground for V8, leave ungrounded for 6 cyl.

For your truck, the easiest thing to do would be to put the tach in your instrument cluster and wire it up instead of trying to use the factory wiring due to the difference in connector plugs and the significant amount of re-wiring required to lose the idiot lights.
