no start now?

I still have the steering wheel off and just removed and rebuilt the PS box..bolted it all back up fill with fluid and when I went to fire it - nothing. it rolls over and I can hear the fuel pump. I did blow a fuse when working on the column but thats been replaced.. did I blow a fusable link? does the steering wheel need to be on? help this sucks, thanks

Did you remember/take a minute to, UN-hook the battery's neg- post before working on her?

What Fuse did you blow?

Brushwacker 10-18-2011 03:45 PM

not sure as I don't have a owners manual. it was a 20A related to the turn signals.
I have confirmed spark and the van will now run on gas spray.. are there underhood fuses, or links for the fuel pumps? thanks

There are some fuseable links in the bunch of wires that bolt to the starter relay on the pass side inner fender. You will have two fuel pumps, one in the tank and a high pressure one on the frame rail. You should hear both running for about 2 secs when you turn the key to on (hard to hear the intank one unless near it when the key is switched).
Hopefully one of the experts will give an opinion soon.

think i'm only hearing the one up front now (hi press) pump. dip tested the tank to see if theres gas just encase the guage was affected..yep gas. its a dual tank model but the front doesn't work.

Check fuel pressure at the rail. Make sure your selector valve is operating and allowing flow. Low pressure> bad filter or pump. No pressure> bad valve. I'm not sure if there are any fuses there.

Found the problem..I broke a corroded wire in a main connector under the master cyl, exactly where I was shoving my arm when removing the PS gear..makes sense now. thanks for the replies
