Towing mirror conversion

I love my no-nonsense 2006 F250 with almost no options, but sometimes I do wish that I had heated power mirrors. I have the little stock mirrors and seeing around a 7 ft. wide trailer is a bit of a challenge. Also they are getting a little loose and seem to need constant readjustment.

Has anyone ever installed the power-adjust, heated towing mirrors as a retrofit? Is all of the wiring already in place? Where is the adjustment control located? Hopefully I can get everything I need from a junkyard, I just need to make sure that I get all of the needed parts.

Here is a thread I started that might help answer some of your questions. If you search around you will see several examples of folks who have done it.

I put a set of powered, heated on my 05SD that just had manual paddle mirrors on it. A trip to the JY for some plugs and switch and a trip to the "I might need this later" box for some 16 gauge wire and a switch and relay for the heated part. About 3.5 hrs later all done and lookin GOOD:-X21

Tow mirrors swap

I have on 01 f250 and I damaged my passenger tow mirror. I found a set from a 2005 f250 with heated glass and turn signal he had adapters in the box with them. While looking at my plugs it looks like it's a flat plug going into a round plug adapter. My question does the round plug adapter be removed from the flat plug and be plugged straight into the new mirror?
