Driver door mysterically unlocks..

Yesterday I gave both my door lock mechanisms a good shot of WD40 as one of the switches was sticking and leaving my dome light on. That seemed to solve the problem, but this afternoon when I got home from work and opened the door, hit the lock button, and turned to grab something out the seat, I heard it unlock (just the driver's side). Hummmm....hit the lock botton again, and about a second later.....yup.....it unlocked itself (just the driver's side). I tried locking it with the switch on the passenger door and it did the same thing. Next I manually locked it by pushing the door lock itself down. This worked, and it did NOT unlock itself. I unlocked and tried the door switch.....yup, the ghost was back.

Any ideas??????

I know it seems kind of simple, but happened to me before. It may or may not be the answer but make sure all the doors are closed tightly. For some reason my 2006 wont stay locked (drivers door) if there is another door cracked open. This only happens when i use the key fob or the door switch to lock, manually it stays down.

My truck did that a few months ago, I thought I had gone crazy....push the lock button and the drivers door would unlock after a few mopments

I worked the drivers door lock button up and down a few times manually and the problem went away. I don't know what caused it, only how I fixed it.

Water inside the controls?
WD40 isolates/displaces water, maybe a little moisture spreaded inside the controls turned into a drop of water in one of the contacts of the LOCK button, happened to me before... Good Luck!

I thought it was a safety thing to help you not lock your keys in the truck? Mine has always done this so I never thought twice about it.

mine does the same once and awhile. But using the button on your remote works fine

If the door is open and the key is in the ignition the drivers side door should unlock. Its to help keep you from locking your keys in the car.
