Well...We got a hand me down hide-a-bed and double recliner love-seat from a coworker. Since my wife liked her choice of furniture and only wanted the hide-a-bed in the living room I made due. I mean who among us wouldn't put a recliner in the garage if they had the room? And yes, the garage is MY living room since the kids took over the one in the house and my wife takes over the TV in our bedroom.

Had a chance to swing by the shop this afternoon and see what else he found. As expected I did a crap job on the brakes so that got fixed. Got a new brake hose on the front passenger side and the coil in the distributor took a crap while he was checking things over. But I got to drive it again today (once again a very small run) one turn of the key and BAM it started! Was getting a new windshield in it as I was leaving with the kids.

So happy I'm almost to the point of fighting with the state of Nevada over the smog test. Never actually thought I'd be saying that.

Time to revive the thread again to shut it down.

Got the truck back from the shop and ran about three tanks of new gas through. Yesterday my neighbor took it to work with him and adjusted the carb and tuned it. Then off to the smog shop it went.

I was at work when I received the expected phone call to say...

It PASSED NEVADA SMOG!!!!

I cannot tell you how relieved I am that I can run regular plates and not "Classic Vehicle" plates that limit the miles per year. So today was a trip to DMV to order the personalized plates and register the truck. In 4 - 6 weeks I'll have the plates and post a final time on this thread before it can be left to die.

But, I do want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has posted encouraging words, unheeded advice, and any useful information elsewhere in this forum.

Now I'm going to park my Toyota and enjoy my truck!

It's been an interesting time since I last posted to this. My accelerator pump failed badly so I decided to rebuild the carb.

Then replace the transfer tube after I screwed it up and flooded the top of the intake, top of the trans, and my garage floor with gas. Lucky for me nothing went Boom. Learned a lot about the Holley 4160 though! And I got a picture of my truck trying to eat my wife!

During the time I was waiting for the plates and driving to work I decided to tackle a few issues. For one, half the dash lights were out so I took my daughter to Summit to get some Green LED's. Sadly they were out of Green so I let my daughter pick between White, Red, and Blue. Of course she picked Blue! Turned out pretty good I think (I like it, she loves it, and my Dad approves):

Of course the bezel back was falling apart from age so Pick and Pull had the 50% off memorial day sale. Which got me a whole new Cluster (including gauges)! Anyone need a non-tack printed circuit let me know. Just cover shipping and its yours. Still need to get the tack working with the MSD adapter...

The other night I drove home from work and learned my license plate lights didn't work (luckily it was on a walk-around before taking off, not by Officer), so I fixed that with my son tonight (drove the Tacoma last night). And on that same night I found a puddle of coolant under the distributor.

Looking at where it could be coming from I narrowed it down to Thermostat or Water Pump. Going the path of least wallet lightening I replaced the thermostat and gasket today. I don't think anyone ever removed the original gasket. There was three different colors of crap that I had to scrape, clean, sand away, and clean again before I could even test fit the new gasket let alone remove the old thermostat. But in the end everything was replaced and no more leak!

Next (planned) fix is to replace the shocks all the way around. Just don't know if I want to get Pro Comp (which I have on the front of my Toyota) or some other brand. Its nice to have Summit less than 3 miles from my house though.

At this point I'm going to drive the truck as much as I can and fix whatever issues pop up as I go. I'm lucky to have my mechanic live next door to me, and for him to be as open to me (and usually my Daughter too) just drop by the shop and hang out for hours on end. Hopefully I can get even 1/100'th of what he knows in my head.

And with that, this will be the last time I post on this thread (I'll reply, but not add new content).

Once again, thank you to EVERYONE on this site! Without all the knowledge here I would still be staring at a broken truck.

Luke - That is excellent progress. Your dad must be proud.

I like the blue LEDs as well, and now you can see the gauges. Good job.

On the shocks, I had a thread called What Shock that discussed the various options. In the end I went with Monroe Sensatracs and love them.
