Stu,
is this the manual your talking about?
Marmon Herrington 1954 CM604 Ford C600 Manual/Part Book - eBay (item 330468391596 end time May-31-11 11:32:49 PDT)
this one says CM 604 but its for the 54.

maybe it would be an ok manual to have in the interim maybe the biggest difference would just be the engine (Flathead vs YBlock)

truckdog62563 05-11-2011 09:54 AM

Josh - I missed that one, it is correct for your truck. You're a lucky man, grab it. There's also one on there for a CM-754 that I thought you were thinking about. That's the one I mentioned in the p.m. that wouldn't help with parts. The 1954 date won't matter on the CM-604 book because, like I 'splained, M-H models spanned several years. The book won't have anything specific to the engine for instance (flat head vs Y block) or other Ford components, only the M-H components. Stu

Thanks Stu, I re-read the entire listing description and it says also for 53 c600 so I just grabbed it. :-X03 Guess you don't see those around too often?

glad I got it so now I can figure out whats what. I want to try out that beast of a winch! bet it could pull tree stumps... :-X04

Thanks

Josh

Books for the bigger models show up more often than they do for the smaller guys, but you're still lucky to find one that quickly. I spent years, with a detour thinking the R3-4 was the same as R32-4, until Chuck put me straight. I ended up standing at the copier at Staples making myself a copy of Chuck's manual on my first visit. Stu

LOL, actually my hours were cut back a bit at work last November due to decreased workload. (for some reason I still seem to be spending almost as much time at work, marketing etc. just cant figure out how to bill all of it)
our last layoff in my dept was Dec 31st (just me right now) (was between 6-8 employees in my dept about 2 years ago)
Things are slowly picking up now but it doesn't take much to keep one person busy.
This winter I have had too much time on my hands so I found a few good deals on things, (by low sell high ;)) for example I found a plotter in the States surplus for $150 sold it 3 weeks later for $1500 not to mention excess parts from my 51 and 52 projects, bought and sold a couple late 40's chevy's, bunch of parts/tools in a shed that was being cleaned out, etc.
I've effectivley exhausted my funds for the 52 project :-blah, and a few medical bills and other household bills are catching up with us. so I most likely will have to sell something from the fleet down the road? (not the 53 MH though)

(Spend darn near $300-350 every month just in Prescriptions; speaking of someone getting rich }> ) not for me, my only medication is old trucks :D

All of my project funds truck money is seperate from our regular finances and is all from buying selling parts etc. (except when things get tight then my wife asks if there any cash in the parts fund she can have to pay bills, so the idea is to not have cash, just trucks and parts :) ) trying to keep her from spending money we dont have... lol

Send away a resume, but I'm not sure if you could handle this mild winter climate as compared to South Dakota!:-X04 I lived in Custer SD (black hills) for about 10 years growing up and I sure don't miss the really cold spells in the winter, or thawing out the pipes everytime they froze, huddling around the wood stove (our single source of heat) Oh and my favorite, hanging the wash out on the clothesline in middle of winter where everything would freeze solid, then bring them back inside and hang them again to finish drying, etc. but on the other hand did have some fun times there.

Havi,
Unfortunatly Utah does not have a Lottery system. I think the predominant church here is worried they would see a significant drop in tithing money if they did.... :-hair So everyone goes to Idaho or Nevada for there lotto tickets. Next time I get out (to Idaho) I'll pick ya out some numbers and slide them under your door! ;)

I've only done the lotto thing once or twice, I guess the old trucks investments thing has been much better to me! lol

Great pictures Josh. What a score! That custom bed is sharp and suits the truck well - what's the back story on that?

thundersnow70 05-13-2011 02:03 PM

cold in Custer? the hills in SD are refered to as the banana belt around here. and i can relate to the house money and the play money for toys, thats the way its done in my house to. i often think of picking one project and just getting it done by selling all the rest, but just cant bring myself to do it. i see in that pic you posted the yellow 51-52 with a blower on the front. was it pete who called that one a sno-go. good call. and if things ever get to bad your way, it seems you have the computer skills to just print your own money.

LOL, Ya I've thought of selling everything but one project too but I guess I'm like you. Can't bring myself to do it....

Ya I thought I saw that Sno-go for sale a year or so ago when it was still complete, I think the blower must have been powered by 239 flathead and maybe they sold the blower seperatly???

Shhhhh about the money printing! dang. now the secret is out :-X04 :) I'm trying to keep up with computers but it's a challenge some days.

Here's a couple pictures of the 52 F2 parts truck I purchased a few weeks go, finally went to pick it up today. the farmer had a bunch of 16" 5 on 5.5" Wheels laying around including 2 bent spoke Kelsey hayes wire wheels. he told me I could have any loose 5 lug wheels I wanted. Score! 7 16's and the 2 40 spoke kelseys......

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...MH/52F2004.jpg

drove about 1 hour each way for the truck, had a flat tire on trailer when I got there, and a blowout on the way back.... blowout was my fault, I had put the spare on and didn't notice the wheel offset put the tire right up against the trailer and it blew after a couple miles of rubbing!

Oh ya Badger Hound, the bed on that truck is from Wisconsin I forget the name of the company, Highway something?? I meant to get some pictures of the tag . I'll make a note of it.

was someone looking for a sleeper cab??

This thread is 6 years old ,but I'm glad you brought it up because for some reason I missed it back then and I never read the story of how Josh got his truck. Great story and a great truck!
