Anyone replaced balljoints on the front of a 92 F-150 4x4
I am trying to replace the top and bottom ball joints on my 4x4--When I try to remove the hub lock ring( it sits in a groove in the hub ), the lock ring moves and is being hard to get out. I need this out so I can remove the spindle and replace the ball joints as the right front is badly worn out. Is a special tool for this? In my Haynes manual it says to use a small screwdriver, which I tried for hours. Help

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-u-joints.html Here is a good writeup on replacing ball joints.
Now if you have something like a fine dental pick or a very fine screwdriver you should be able to get under the snap ring and pry it out, it can be a PITA. |

while you are that deep into it, be sure to replace the the axle bearing and seals in the spindle.
