ATS 085 vs. ATS 088

What are the differences and pros and cons and such to these two setups? I currently have the ATS 085 on my 88 F350, however as I work at a junkyard, I pulled an 088 out of a truck last fall. Is one better than the other? I have been trying to figure this out for months!

088 is wastegated. much better turbo. higher boost at better control with less chance of engine damage

Are you sure the 088 is gated? I know the 093 is, but I don't remember the 088 having a gate on it when I pulled it.

I have all of the PDF files, but I still don't know which is better, if either are bigger, etc. also, has anybody put an intercooler on either of these systems?

If neither the 085 or 088 systems are wastegated, you won't see much gains from switching from 085 to 088 - You will see gains from switching to the 093 system. Oreo had the 093 if I'm not mistaken and he had it intercooled. You can see over 10 psi with those(with proper DP/turbine housing) 093's without much trouble.

the 93 is gated
the 85 and 88 are practally the same and usually the 85 is grouped in with the 88
a gated turbo will make more boost and make it lower in most cases so the 93 is worth it but an 85 to 88 is pointless you wont notice it

Excellent! That is what I needed to know. Thanks folks!
