Wiring Diagram for rear window defrost circuit 2002-2005 EATC

Anybody have (or have access to) a wiring diagram that will show me how the rear window defroster circuit works in my Excursion. I have the EATC, which may or may not be related... not sure. So the digram would probably need top be from 2002-up.

Obviously I ask because mine is not working (and neither are the mirror heaters since they are activated by the same switch - I think???). I've checked fuses to no avail...

Mine has never worked since I got this Excursion put together last year. I have read some previous threads that mention two different rear hatch glass defroster grids, one being a higher output grid (and different resistance?) than the other. Is there a chance my system is looking for the higher ohm grid, but my window grid is the lower ohm unit and therefore not activating the timer? I only ask this because my electrical system is M/Y 2002, but my back hatch is from a 2000 M/Y.

Also, I get no indicator light when the switch is depressed. I have tried 3 different switches just because I had extras... no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... tired of frosted windows and mirrors... it's winter in Colorado! :-banghead

Reps to Rickx for that! Exactly what I needed.

Any chance you have the switch pinout as well?

Digging up an old thread - Because I still haven't figured this out!!! Tired of having no defrost in winter!!!

Any new ideas, 2 years later LOL!

I have power to my rear defrost switch (both signal and illumination), I've tried 2 different switches. It never turns on. It's not getting a signal/pulse to/from the GEM to start the timer and run the mirror and rear window defrost... help. :-huh

Did you ever solve this? I have the exact same issue.

Tying information from this post:

Fuses: Ok
Relay
Power to PINs 30, 85
NO Power to PINs 86 87

Indicator Switch has been changed out twice. There is power to the switch but no light and no effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So, I am getting power to pin 85 but it is labeled as Switched Ground and no power to 86 labeled as Voltage in RUN when Key is ON.

Yes. my solution was odd.

I had changed my speedo cluster during the summer. Didn't detect the issue until the cooler months and learned I needed the 'new' cluster flashed for my options.

All is fixed

Wow, that is great news and many thanks for sharing.

I never solved my issue, but I BET it was the same... having to do with the cluster. I swapped mine years ago and never knew it had to be flashed for options! My cluster probably came out of an F250 that didn't have rear window defrost!!! amazing find, thanks again for sharing!!! Sadly, I sold the EX earlier in the year :( so not my problem now...

For other's reference, where and how do you get the cluster flashed???

I went to a dealership and told them I needed the cluster flashed to the 'as built' data. They seemed 'all thumbs' about it, having a customer tell them what to do and said "We can not warranty the work". Luckily one of the mechanics remembered that these trucks have a strange Hybrid Cluster where some of the information is stored in the cluster and the other in the ecu.

That's the catch, the Hybrid cluster/ecu is an odd duck.

I found a Harley Davidson cluster from an F-250 that I wanted to put in and, like you surmised, that F-250 didn't have the same sort of defrost system. The clusters looks GREAT and now everything works as it should... even that annoying seatbelt nag chime...
