Probably but I am not having a problem with the back/smooth side of the belt. I am having the problem with the grooved side of the belt. I can take a bar of soap and hit the belt grooves and the squeal will go away. So it is very hard for me to believe that it is the water pump pulley, which runs on the smooth side of the belt?.?.

My theroy is that its not the actual WP pulley that is squeeling. Its the ridge on the wp pulley that is throwing the belt out of line and its squeeking on the next ribbed pulley where alignment is critical.

Ok I guess I could see that. One thing I have already done was sand the WP pulley down to bare metal where the belt rides, and that did nothing to the squeal. (which was easier than pulling the pulley out to get it powdercoated.) But if it comes back then I will have to pull the Water pump pulley out, because everything else checks out.
Thanks for the info!
