Won't Start/Crank in Park Unless...
...I pull up on the shifter lever or put it in neutral. Sometimes in 'P' it starts fine. Always starts in 'N'.

Sounds like your shift lever is loose. Check the two Torx-head screws under the column along with the shift tube bushings for excessive wear.
If there is no evidence of excessive free play in the shifter, it's most likely the DTR sensor mounted on the transmission. |
Sounds like the Transmission Range Sensor. I had a similar problem with my 99 had to jiggle the gear shifter around to get it to start. Then it just wouldnt start at all. I replaced the Trans. Range Sensor, not a bad job just spray the hell out of it and let it sit for a day or so. 15mm center nut and 2-8mm bolts mounting it on the trans. 4R70W But in my case it didnt solve the problem. Still wont start. I think I have something else going on. Going to check the ignition switch next.

The two bushings on the shifter tube were worn slap out.
Dropped the column, replaced them both, all is like new now. :D |
