Fixed up my door panels
Well I finally got around to working on my door panels. The old trim was peeling back and I was tired of it. I got some aluminum diamond plate and made my own. I still need to get some bolts to secure it and cut out the window hole. I am hoping to get them finished up this weekend. Here is what I have so far!!

Have fun workin' on your truck!:-X25 |
Looks good. Will the diamond plate rub your skin off every time you roll the windows up/down? ;)

Man that looks really nice.
|
To cool, thanks for the idea to fix the same problem on my 79. Finished product pix please, want to see what hardware you use to attach it.
|
Man if you made those things up and sold them on eBay you could make some money for parts and other things for yourself.
I made some extra DP stuff when I made it for my Samurai and made some good cash off it. |
Alright, finally got to finish them up tonight. I noticed that the window crank area stuck out a little farther than the other spots. So nothing a little cutting with a dremel couldn't fix.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...k/DSC04848.jpg Next I went and bought some 1/2" long screws and got some washed about 1/2" across. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...k/DSC04854.jpg I decided to only put in 6 bolts on each panel. I marked the holes I wanted with a marker. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...k/DSC04855.jpg Once I drilled out the holes there was some excess material on the other side. I took a 1/2" drill bit and used that to cut it off and on the areas that the hole came out on a diamond it filed it down some for the screw to fit in. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...k/DSC04857.jpg And here is the final product. Nice and heavy!! I will get some pics of them on the door tomorrow. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...k/DSC04858.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...k/DSC04859.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...k/DSC04860.jpg |
That looks awesome! I bet it'll feel cold in the winter mornings though :) But seriously, that's a really creative idea.
|
really nice man :)
|

|

looks awesome man
|
looks good, bet that aluminum diamond plate run you a pretty penny! I wish I still worked at the ship yard. We used to drag that stuff out of the scrap bin all the time!
|
The plate didn't cost me anything. i was lucky enough to have a friend get me some from his work before he retired! Wish he was still around! LOL
|
Awesome idea, looks great, think I am gonna add one thing. Cut out the bottom rectangle area below and put it there too?
Just cut a hole for the door speakers, and use flush/flat mount speakers covers. You know you can get that metal in different colors, I have seen it in red and blue. Thanks for the finish product pic, it looks great. |
I was thinking if I could get more to put it down on the bottom of the door where the pocket goes under the door panel. I am going to get a silver paint pen and redo all the silver on the panel.
|
Another good idea, can't wait till I get the chance to work up something. You coming up to the Missouri chapter spring meet ? 2 may 11:00 at Table Rock State Park pavillion.
Across the dam, from the Branson, ck out the Mo chapter thread on it. I am hopeing to be outa Afghanistan and home on leave, and attend. |
I don't know if I will be able to make it up there. I have a crazy work schedule, will have see as it gets closer.
|
Yea I know how that is, pass the word on the FTE G2G. Would like to check out those door panels.
|
Now go to the parts store and get some 1/8" chrome pinstripping tape and a scuff pad and redo the fins on the lower part of the door panel.
|
Ranger, that is a great idea. I was going to paint them but I like the pin stripe better!
77&79, I don't know if my 77 will make it. I am still trying to get a stock pitman arm for it. I upgraded to the 78-79 steering, plus it isn't even registered yet. I wished I lived near your area, there are more guys up your way that run the 73-79's, most of my guys are PSD's. |

I have a stock pitman off my 79 F250 4x4, yours for free if you can cover shipping? And you would have to wait till 18 or 19 April, sorry I am working in Afghanistan right now.
Pass the word to any and all, any Ford truck nut invited, just RSVP on the mo chapter thread. My sis might even drive down her 99 F350 6" 375/65 Baha ATZ. So what ever year, make, model and engine, come on up. Once again nice job on those door panels. |
Thanks for the pitman offer, but from what I gethered the arms are different from the 150 to the 250. I had a couple people that all have the 250 arms, might have found one though...will have to see.
Your sis has a very nice truck!! |
I'll ck if I got a 150 one laying around in the shop, still free if I got one. Sisters rig, HP boost chip, K&N air box, 5" exhaust, only has 60,000 on it.
Had a 4" with 315"s, got a deal on the lift and tires and rims. 6" Skyjacker? RS9000's, double front shock brackets, MT Baha ATZ 375/65/16, Weld Stone Crusher's. Gotta love Craigslist, up KC way. |
