I’ve read there are well over a million 7.3’s still on the road. The aftermarket support for this engine and these trucks is still a HUGE business. Irate and CSD are literally just a very small part of it.

But, the high end products are a very small part of that market and probably not a good business investment.

We are talking about trucks that cost $3000-15,000 and are up to 20yrs old. I’m surprised at how much people spend on these still POPULAR trucks. :-innocent

I doubt the likes of CSD, Irate and Obsession will want to retool to create a cheaper T4 conversion kit but I will mention it to them. DPS could possibly have copyrights on that v-band to T3/T4 flange adapter also.

I have to agree with Sous on the reasons why DPS appears to have shelved their 7.3 project. Unless our generation truck achieves cult status like classic Mustangs where aftermarket companies spring up to manufacture parts for them, I do not see anybody investing money in developing kits except for morons like me.

Trimmed the actuator mounting bracket and reshaped the heat shield to minimize the volume it occupies.

Nice work! Looks like you clocked it back toward the front too.

I was wondering how long you could lay on the couch after your fall without getting into the garage to mess around with the Turbonator.

CSD pedestal and base plate painted with POR15.

Man, I thought I was ocd about detail. Nice looking work! Its great to see projects completed with quality and detail, and not just slapped together quick to get it do done. Though sometimes there are times where it just has to get going

Sous 08-10-2020 11:55 AM

Looking great so far Leonard!

SkySkiJason 08-10-2020 12:50 PM

Why poor15?

(I’m just not a fan of overrated and ridiculously overpriced stuff...)

Looks Good though!

VHT Flameproof (2000*) is a good choice for the hot parts. Anything else will just burn off... (exhaust flange?)

Brother Noob, you must contact me when you are thinking of things like this. Sometimes you can pitch something like that in when I'm getting some plating done.

Thank you sirs! One of the main reasons it's taking so long is because I'm still trying to figure out how to sneak this past the wife. That and falling off a retaining wall and injuring myself. Therefore in order to fulfill my desire to play with my new toy, I do small things like this. You didn't think this was all preplanned, did you?

Yeah I had some left over so I figured I might as well use it.

Dangit. I'm terrible at leveraging the whole "it's not what you know it's who you know" thing. Which kind of plating do you do?

FinnishStroker 08-11-2020 07:36 AM

I think that Dan V is a pro machinist..?
Atleast he has a machinist background.
Why in the earth he did not manufactured DIY T4 kit for himself..??
Or did he..?🤔

Bobcat likes chromate conversion in either black or yellow.

I build things to others specifications. And, my time is better spend MAKING money, than sitting around engineering something that already has a proven track record of success. I machine things all day, at least 5 days/week. In my down time, it's not something that I do for relaxation....I have horses and dogs for that. I used the CSD T4 kit.

FordTruckNoob 08-12-2020 12:36 PM

I am not impressed by the fasteners that came with the CSD kit so I have decided to replace all the bolts with studs and use Jetnuts on all the studs.

The parts list in the first post has been updated.

RacinJasonWV 08-12-2020 02:50 PM

Is Jetnut a type of locknut?
