And my local parts store can't get a front crank seal for the pump so I'm getting a new oil pump for it hoping that fixes the long crank issue with it the right hpop helped s bunch hopefully that'll fix it completely then it'll be good to go as far as mechanically wise truck really feels pretty torquey with the 4:10

Well I've gotta major set back on it now but oh well got do what u gotta do the engine has to come out now I thought the front seal was leaking to begin with but turns out it's the oil pan seal the po didn't install it right or something I guess just another's thing I'm having to fix they screwed up wondering if u guys had any advice on pulling without pulling transmission or crossmember

Well pulled motor had it out in about 4 hours first time pulling a 7.3 but not to bad at all po definitely didn't seal oil pan or anything good so all new seals are going in and painted it cleaned with brake clean and parts cleaner and a tooth brush should be ready to put back together tomorrow or Sunday and the yellow valve covers arnt staying just a spare set I had so we didn't half to mask it off kinda like the yellow though but wouldn't go with the blue at all in the engine bay at all

I like that silver or maybe its Ford grey, looks good.

z31freakify 07-16-2016 08:48 AM

Why not paint the engine bay? You have the engine out.

I am I need for a little advice the truck was having long cranking times wether it was hot or cold and I figured it was the lpop oil leak that turned out that the oil pan was leaking and then I kinda figured oil pickup was sucking air but the hpop resivour was full when I pulled cover so what would cause the long starts I'm honestly thinking injector orings or injector issues or hpop issues maybe but it has to be one of those I'd think

7.3 forever 07-17-2016 01:33 PM

And I'm gonna put new glow plugs to in it hopefully it's all good I'm gonna put new injectors orings and put my old injectors in it which ran just upgraded

ReBilld 07-17-2016 08:10 PM

The long cranking could be air in the HPO system if you have had that open. If you haven't, then it could be IPR o-rings, or the IPR itself.
