Midnight: "I've tossed around the idea of this conversion for a while now"

@ Midnight: I have the utmost confidence in you so long as it doesn't involve belts ;) hehe!

That's the way to go fdude64. My parents made me get it done at a shop, $1386 out and I still don't have a tranny jack. The next week I ripped out my entire front end for a SAS.
Popped in the Timing cover, lower intake, dizzy, harmonic balancer, and fuel rail. Should be buttoned up tomorrow.

That.....is a good idea.
I'll get working on that, I'm gonna have to charge my camera.

Took my truck to my brothers shop to get an alignment done. He call me back to tell me that it needs ball joints and tie rod ends.

Well I didn't have to work on the old ford today. My wife got in her 04 ram and the alternator was shot. There goes 160 bucks. :(

Good evening gang,

I got my 96 Explorer all done, new Posi Trac clutch packs, new seals, synthetic lube,
picked up a new Ford hat while I was at the dealer, hehehe

I did the front upper control arm yesterday, back to slacking now....

mpc07005 07-18-2012 09:49 PM

Only got to put 2 hrs into the truck today. The 2 water pump gaskets in my kit don't fit. Guess I'll have to hope Carquest has it tomorrow, then I can pop on the rest of the accessories and start her up. Switchin' to photobucket so pics will take a while.

How hard was it to change the front clip? I have a 1991 regular cab with the 300 I6. I like the 92-96 front end better

Badbeny 07-19-2012 01:42 AM

its fairly simple. i went to a parts yard and pulled what i needed.
front bumper, fenders, hood, headlights, grill, valence below the headlights and the windshield cowl. took about a whole day to take all parts off and get the other parts i did other maintenance while the whole truck was apart.

Hmm. I think when i go to do all the work on mine I'll do this. So whats the deal with the cowl? i thought it'd be the same on all years?

No...On the 87-91 models, it has a slight difference, than the 92+ models...

Cowl forward has to come off and be swapped...

SideWinder4.9l 07-19-2012 04:00 PM

Finally got my exhaust fixed...

2-1/4" Y pipe (Made in U.S.A baby!) flared over the previously installed 2.25" exhaust pipes...And then into a Dynomax Muffler, then some more 2.25 pipe on a 45* bend, out in front of the rear, right tire..

Ending in one of my old 3" x 14" Stainless Steel Slash cut tips...:-jammin

Went from a balls out, race truck sound, down to whisper quiet...

If I hadn't did the Tachometer Cluster swap, I wouldn't even know the truck is running...

It's SOOOOO much more enjoyable of a drive now..:-X22
