Chip ...Alan and I are I. Ozark/Sparta...I'm about 4 or so min from his shop. We are about 25 min or so from Branson.

Chip I am 1.5 drive time north of Branson. But for a few ideas on what to do down there, I know that the Branson landing is a nice area w/meal options, maybe the comedy club down there is still open? Dueling piano bar? The fountain with the music and flame show is cool and free. Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing has jacuzzi tubs..:)

Unk Bob pretty sure Kabluey will barely fit on a u haul trailer (ya might not tell them what you are putting on it) and I am sure you will need some stock tires though. I have seen pics of a 79 4wd F250 long bed on a U haul trailer, it had stock tires.

"Towed vehicle requirements
Must not weigh in excess of 5,290 lbs.
Must have a maximum outside-to-outside tire width of 79.25" Note: outside tire width over 75" must use late-model U-Haul Auto Transport (identifiable by silver galvanized color).
Must have a maximum wheelbase (distance from front axle to rear axle, usually posted on the driver's side door jamb) of 133 inches.

Yup, I've been looking already. According the Uhaul's web sight the truck itself is supposed to fit. But I'm sure we'll need stock tires and wheels for the height and width both.
If we can pull this off, we can rent a 26' box truck, and car trailer for 5 day's for about $1200. And the total move for about $3000, and it cost $4600 to move out here, and then another $1200 to have Ka'Bluey delivered. :'(

It wil fit, but you might tell them it is a 2wd 79 F150 short bed and leave it at that...I do not support lying but some times you can have your facts wrong when asking and awswering questions. lol

According to Uhauls web sight a 79 regular cab, 4x4 is fine. I do need to check on overall width. But still looking at some stock size tires and wheels.
I'm going to call later this morning and talk to a human being. It it's all good, I'll make reservations today, and lock the price in.

Good luck with all that, if you are driving the u haul trailering Kabluey and Sheri driving her rig and Tim driving his...how is your brown truck getting here?

I'm basically hiring my buddy that owns a moving company in Kansas. He's coming out to get stuff loaded, and he'll drive the Uhaul, and trailer with Ka'Bluey on the back.
Then we'll each drive our own vehicles back. We have plans, now waiting on the money, and date to get here. But it's all coming together pretty well.

bob... not sure on that trailer.. but usually you only need 2 stock wheels on the frt. to get it past the trailers wheel wells.. unless you get a flat- (over the tires) bed trailer

ubereal2 02-05-2017 10:47 AM

Just got back from Uhaul checking out the trailer situation. With the 37's he's too wide, and that's an easy fix, and I already have a line on another set of stock tires and wheels through a NC FTE member.
But' Ka'Bluey is too long for what the guy told me is the largest trail that UHaul has. He'd set right on the last few inch's of the trailer.

Penske trailers are max weight of #4000, and Ryder only rents round trip. One kick to the nads after another so far this morning. Can't wait for the rest of the day...:'(

There's an auto swap meet at the fairground next Friday & Saturday. I'm planning on being there bright and early Saturday morning.
