Along the same lines of CV swap some of the older Ford truck guys use the full CV frame floor & fire wall.
Then gut the cab of floor & fire wall and graft it on the CV floor & fire wall.

Wonder if this has been done to our trucks yet? I think I would try this before swping in just the front end but that's me.

Over in the "project" area a guy used an Aerostar IFS with R&P in a 54 F100.
I don't know what the frame spread is on the Aerostar or if it is too light duty to use on our trucks but he has a 351 and all metal body.

i'm considering of doing the swap.
I found 2008 Crown Vic for reasonable price and i'm almost ready to pull the trigger.
But i'm also scared and in need of your encouragement, please!

So how are you looking to do this?
Just the front suspension, full frame/floor/firewall?

If you have both car & truck at the same place I would start by taking a lot of measurements. Again I would be looking to do full frame/floor/firewall swap.

This guy has a few videos of his swap on the older Fords but this is how I would go. It is ruff, did it in his home garage so it can be done but it gives you something to go by.

If my parts truck was not a roll over - read had a good cab - I would look into doing this and if it did not work out no big deal, keep the good stuff and scrap the rest.

When you get going start your own thread so we can follow.

It is a lot of work and not for everyone but wanted to throw it out there as a way someone could go with their project.

I said I would do something like that but then again I have been known to swap out a Non-AC fire wall for an AC one just to have AC }>

Do keep us posted on what you do as we all like to see others projects.

I would like to see this too, and have a FB account, but whatever link that was in post #24 is no longer there.

nikmish 08-15-2017 11:37 PM

you will find the link in my signature (FB page).

Currently, i'm at disassembling stage, nothing much going on.

FuzzFace2 08-16-2017 05:27 PM

Well what do you know I can view your FB page. A lot of times because I don't have an acct. with FB I cant see anything on there.

I got to say you have done a lot of work on that truck of yours over the years and it has done work too.

So are you doing just the front suspension swap or full frame swap or full frame/floor & fire wall keeping the CV dash?
Also if just the front suspension swap what you going to use for the rear, truck or CV? I seen posted the CV rear is wider than the trucks but I cant see the front not being as wide?

Please keep us posted on the CV swap.

the whole frame swap, like that guy (Nathan's Garage) did for his second (white) truck.
i'm super scared and excited at the same time...

FuzzFace2 08-16-2017 06:45 PM

I don't think anyone has tried that on our year trucks?

How does the wheel base (WB) work between the truck & CV as I have not even looked into doing it that way? On the bumps/dents if using a SB truck the CV is 14" shorter.

On the WB thing everyone takes 14" out of the bed, I don't know if you can take 14" out of a flare side bed? Why not add 14" to the CV frame? Think that would be a lot easier.

I will be following this.
Dave ----

edit: I just remembered why I have not looked into the full frame swap.....the CV frame hump at the rear axle coming up into the bed of the truck.
