I think if the heat treatment combined with DC and a hammer doesn't get it... You could try clamping the vice grips on as tight as you can and hitting that with a hammer. Maybe the sharp impact will break it loose. Of course there is the possibility of the stud breaking more so be careful.

well made progress today but in the same note the day started rough with the bolts breaking off more in the timing chain cover. so i busted the left and right bolt guides on the timing chain cover and it freed the bolts and they turned right out. so today i have replaced the timing chain cover and gaskets and got all that put back together. tomorrow i have maybe 4 hours left of work to do with puting the new water pump on, tstat, fan pully and fan, fan cover, reconnecting hoses, and changing the oil and replacing the coolant. and i think thats about it. feels to to know that i made progress today.

Nice it's a good feeling doing this kinda stuff on your own. Unfortunately i really wanted to get my tranny out today but i couldn't get ahold of the guy i am going to to get it rebuilt to make the appointment and to get needed information.

got it done today now its on to getting the heat to blow hot and hard, and also to figure out why my engine temp gauge isnt working. any ideas on that?

GruesomeJeans 02-13-2012 07:49 PM

Temp wire unplugged, gauge broken, there could be quite a few things but it shouldn't be too bad.

mater73 02-13-2012 08:16 PM

Do you think it would be an inexpensive fix?

GruesomeJeans 02-13-2012 08:28 PM

Ya for the most part. It could be a blocked hose or the thermostat is shot. Thats what i would start with and if it doesn't work still then maybe it is something else. a replacement gauge i think is pretty cheap too.

mater73 02-13-2012 08:44 PM

Well I replaced the t-stat when I did the water pump and that didn't fix it like I thought so ill check the wires to the guage and she where that gets me

GruesomeJeans 02-13-2012 09:22 PM

Ok well if you are able to get it to go through your heater core and it does get hot then i would be the gauge.

Edgethis 02-13-2012 09:28 PM

A good coolant flush is a start. If you're gonna do that then nows a good time to replace hoses too. Did you check to make sure the sender is plugged in?

GruesomeJeans 02-13-2012 09:52 PM

Good thing he came to the rescue... My brain isn't working right lately :/

mater73 02-14-2012 04:50 AM

I haven't checked anything on it yet going to today. Where is the sender plug located at?
