Description:
Selling our family's 1984 F250. We bought it in 1999 with around 140k on it (odometer said ~40k, assuming 140k. It's been in the family since then. Motor is not original but I rebuilt it around 2004 or so, it might have seen 10k miles tops since then. My dad had just not used it enough to justify keeping around. Tires were just replaced recently due to age, not mileage.
Truck has a 351W with 2bbl 2150 carb. New tires all around. Dual tanks. No factory AC. Motor is bored 0.040" over, otherwise stock. 3spd auto trans, C6 I think. 2wd, 4.10 rear end. Body and interior are rough but it starts up and runs okay. Frame is solid. Things I've noticed about it driving it around the neighborhood.
- occasional hesitation from a stop, that and the fuel will drain from the bowl if it sits a long time makes me think the accelerator pump diaphragm is leaking, but not sure
- truck pulls to one side during acceleration and the steering is not loose (new rag joint) but seems to still have a hard time tracking straight. We have *never* taken this truck for an alignment. Kingpins and all steering items except the pitman arm have been replaced since we have owned the truck.
- brakes are weak, even after bleeding the lines and the brake controller (yes it's brake fluid controlled from the 80's)
- front right tire has a slow leak
- speedometer cable broke a year or two ago. I climbed under there and decided I didn't want to mess with it.
-- wipers work, washer motor does not
- rear tank has not been used in 20 years, likely full of rust. Front tank is only about 15yrs old but while inspecting it I'm quite sure it's rubbed through where it sits against the frame as it leaks when it's filled up fully.
I'd like to keep the truck but too many projects/not enough time to justify it. Truck had current tags is drivable but would recommend trailering due to the issues I noted with the brakes and steering. Posting here first before dealing with FB Marketplace.
