Description:
** Blown Engine - Threw a rod - Hole in Block **
Looking for an Excursion for your Cummins build? Dismayed by the current high prices of rusted out Excursions out there? My blown engine 2003 Limited 6.8L might just be the solution you're looking for! On Tuesday, my son took it to high school and on his way home, it threw a rod right through the side of the block. Wife says I can't fix it - unless I get rid of my two project cars - so I'm offering it for sale here.
2003 Limited V10, all the options except quad captains chairs and overhead video. Clean body and underbody, rockers are complete with no rust. It does have dings and scratches consistent with its age.
Front seats have cracking, but no rips or tears- the seat heaters work (the lumbar dials do not).
When I bought it 5 years ago, with 205k miles, I replaced a ton of components. Blue top steering box, new innner/outer tie rods, drag link, sway bar endlinks. Bilstein 5100s at all 4 corners (and on the steering damper). All new OEM rotors and pads. Roadmaster Active Suspension and Heliweg sway bar added to the rear.
New Fuel pump in March, new hubs in Feb this year. New bosch ignition coils and spark plugs included!
It's got an older Alpine after-market radio and a trailer brake controller.
Things it needs:
A new/reman/engine - There is a big hole in the side of the current one.
Battery Saver module - The gauge cluster needs to be sent for repair. The windows and radio occasionally lose power.
Springs - After this towing season I was going to upgrade the springs to the ATS x/b codes.
Tires - This fall I was going to replace the tires. What's on there now are off brand highway tread, long life tires. I was getting great gas mileage on the freeway with these (~16mpg on trips to Hershey, PA). The tires are serviceable, and still pass VA inspection - just wanted to get a matching set all the way around.
