Description:

I've owned this truck since December 2017. Purchased in Charlotte, NC and driven back to Cleveland. Since then, it has seen only spring-fall use for truck stuff and towing my racecar to the track as I've shared in this thread. It has been unbelievably reliable and trustworthy, never having left me stranded. I only consider selling it now because it can't fit two car seats and two adults so it's been sitting a lot and I hate to see that. We also now have another vehicle in the fleet that can handle towing to the track.
A bit about the truck

  • 429 out of a '71 Thunderbird with an RV cam. The P/O built the engine in the early 90's and stated it to be a 466 but I don't have a build sheet to prove that. It has a couple oil leaks. New valve cover gaskets last spring.
  • Holley 750
  • C6 out of the same Thunderbird with a cooler. Every time I fix one leak, there's another but it shifts fine. A new, non-stamped pan would be a good move.
  • Mallory electronic ignition - new module in 2020
  • Dana 70 with 3.55 gears
  • Drum brakes - fronts are off a newer truck but the P/O couldn't remember what and I haven't dug into what exactly they are
  • Power steering with cooler
  • The heater...works... Fan makes noise
  • All of the bed boxes lock with the same key
  • The frame has some superficial crust on it but is in extremely good shape. I think it lived its whole life in NC before I brought it up here
  • There is some body rust - fender bottoms, doors, bottom of the cab corners, a strange spot on the inside of the cab in front of the passenger door - must have had crap packed in there, small spots on the utility bed but it's overall very solid. No holes in the floor.
  • 6 new tires in the last 2 years
  • Various new brake, fuel and vacuum hoses in my ownership
  • New fan clutch summer 2021
  • "Mechless" radio with two door speakers
  • New battery 2021
  • This truck used to have a gigantic homemade cap on the back of it with a pass through using the rear window opening. The cap is obviously gone now and the rear window is polycarbonate, riveted in place.
  • The windshield is badly cracked and probably should be replaced. I haven't yet because there's a bit of rust in the channel that I'd have to fix first. Oh, new wipers last year for whatever that's worth.
Both windows roll up and down, sometimes takes a bit of work and the passenger side crank resides in the glove box until you need it. Vent windows work. Door locks work. It rides bumpy unless you've got it loaded down and it's noisy but it's about as good an old and capable work horse you'll find.

I have stupidly few good pictures of it for owning it so long. It's in winter storage away from the house but I'm happy to get more/specific pictures for anyone truly interested. I have a bunch of underside pictures from when I bought it and it looks the same/better now. I also can meet you at the storage facility to show you the truck in person.

I'm finding it difficult to put a value on this truck - not much out there comparable. I'd be happy to hear if you think my price is way off base. There's a damn good chance it's worth more to me than it is to anyone else.

The truck is stored in Cleveland, OH.

I'd be willing to trade for a 50s Cadillac or Lincoln, various older BMWs or Porsches (hah).
