Description:
Summary: "Big Red" as she was called by her prior owner is a 1966 F100 2WD "three on the tree" manual transmission truck, which was restored frame up in the early 2000's by her prior owners. Manufactured at the San Jose, CA Ford plant, Big Red lived her life in southern California before coming to me in Massachusetts less than a year ago. I am the third owner; I bought it from the gent who had it restored, who received it from a family friend who was the first owner. Currently registered and recently inspected in MA, Big Red runs perfectly and is garaged unless on the road.
Overall Condition: Beautiful. When restored, the prior owner went for a "Red, White, and Blue" theme that I don't care for, but explains the blue upholstery. Seat foam feels new. The truck was restored to original configuration for a '66; the only things not original that I'm aware of are the carpet, wheels and hubcaps. Everything else looks like it would have in '66. The body is straight and the frame is perfectly clean.
Rust: There is some surface rust in the bed where the body putty has chipped away in the time I've owned it. There is also some minor surface rust on the rain gutter. Pics of both below. The body panels and frame are completely rust free.
Mechanicals: Her 352 was a new crate engine during the restoration, and has about 24,000 miles on it since. When I received it from CA last year I had the manifold gasket replaced to fix a small oil leak. I bought a rebuild kit from Mike's Carburetor because one of the gaskets seems to be leaking a bit, but haven't installed it yet and it does not seem to be an issue. It has a stainless steel exhaust, tires and brakes recently replaced, and has had regular oil changes. The heater core needs replacing; I have the parts and will do the work (or provide the parts) upon sale. I've replaced the gas gauge sending unit.
