I bought this truck in Ohio in 2004 (hence the rust) and brought it to NC. Since then it's been my backup vehicle/truck stuff type of truck. To my knowledge the engine and transmission are original (pretty sure this is a roller motor, that's why I bought a 94' in the first place)The truck starts and runs reasonably well and most everything works fine exc. the passenger side power window switch. One headlamp and one mirror have cracked housings but still work fine. Tires are decent but ball joints need to be replaced (but I also said that when I bought the truck in 04' with 117k on it). I can hear a small exhaust leak around the Y-pipe...Y-pipe is stainless and looks good but the flange on the cat side is pretty bad. There are a couple of slow leaks, rear main, a coolant leak somewhere near the intake (but truck never runs hot), and the *rear tank (now a plastic tank) seal is leaking if you fill the rear tank up too much. Bought a V10 crew cab awhile back to fit the kids and pull my larger trailers and I just don't use this truck much anymore, so it's time to let it go. I stay on top of regular maintenance, but it's still a 26yr old truck. Clutch was done around 100k, but it rattles in neutral which I've been told was the springs in the dual mass clutch.....either way it's never gotten worse in the last 16 years.
Body is rough...there are a few dents but rust is the main problem...I've learned to live with it and the fact that I am replacing parts that I would never have expected to replace (and learned that anti-seize is my friend) but we have a family of four now and we just don't all fit. I've replaced the brake lines, oil pan and rear shackles, among other things, due to rust over the years. Bed supports are also shot, in spots there are holed in the bed and I've supported it underneath with some PVC pipe to avoid crushing the lines for the rear fuel tank.
It would make a good farm or hunting truck I'm sure, or keep using it like I've been for the occasional trip to the hardware store. It's nice to have a truck you don't worry about getting dinged or scratched. I am driving it daily as of late to make sure there aren't any other things I forgot about and will update if needed. Figured I'd post it here for a while for folks that know these trucks pretty well before putting it out to the masses on CL. Ford Factory Shop manual and EVTM for 1994 F-series is also available if interested.
