Hey hows things going since they closed the plant
-
Oh sure Im with you on that
SO you plan to replace the Filter adapter plate if/when you do the oil cooler?? That is a Good time to do it for sure
Its not to bad to get back at if a guy replaced the OC and still had High EOT's
Next guy that does an Oil cooler job maybe we can have them take some Pics to see about wear I am With ya we wont know if the spring got weakened and a Tool to test that is probably as much as the 150 buck unit so replacement just makes the Most sense By far

I think the problem would be is there is no way to know if the spring is beginning to weaken, you can get the entire assembly oil cooler and cover for like 150 bucks more so when it comes time to do mine i am just going to replace the whole assembly.

You got it
That was a GREAT Call Brett!!!!!
Definatly something that has got looked past before in other threads and I bet that bypass was a few Folks problem with high EOT right after a OC change
I didn't really follow that thread real close but Im glad it got brought back up
That Bypass valve would be a Good thing to check before OC replacement Im thinking they are probably getting some wear now with age on these trucks
I wonder if we could pull the Oil Filter and take a flashlight to inspect the valve to see if its Hung open or pushing oil thru it upon crank IDK might be hard to see
