I'm finally looking at upgrading from my 1996 F-150 XLT regular cab 2wd with 5.0L v8.

The trucks I'm looking at right now are:
used 2009 F-150 red XLT supercrew 5.5' bed 4x4 with 5.4L v8, 3.31 gears, 7200# GVWR tow package, and 8900miles.
Asking price is $25977, would come to $28k thereabouts out door

new 2010 F-150 blue XLT supercrew 5.5' bed 4x4 with 5.4L v8 3.55LS gears, and 7200# GVWR tow package.
Lowest I could get dealer down to was $31,500 plus all their BS fees which out door would have been $34-35k with 6.5% sales tax.

used 2009 F-150 silver FX4 supercrew 5.5' bed 4x4 with 5.4L v8, (don't know which gears), 7200# GVWR tow package, and 31,000 miles.
Asking price is $31,000 which I'm sure can be talked down considering new truck prices. Not sure on dealer fees and BS charges.

Any idea on of these 3, what I can talk them down to? The main 2 I'm considering is the 2009 red XLT and the new 2010 blue XLT. I couldn't seem to get the red used XLT below $25,977 and the dealer wouldn't budge off the $31,500 off the new XLT. Anyone know how to get the dealer off all their fees or to budge off the price? or is it just a waiting game?

Curious as to what others have paid for similiar trucks lately?

I would NEVER get a full size crew cab truck with 3.31 gears. Try and find one with 3.73s if you can.

 

Even with the low geared 1st in the 6spd of the 09+ trucks?

 

You still have a high enough od that it's like driving older trucks in od. Even if your first gear is lower you still have to keep it moving in higher gears.
